MASS FOR THE DEAD: The annual November mass for the dead will be celebrated in Templeglantine church on Sunday, November 3rd at 3.00pm. All parishioners who passed to their eternal reward in the last twelve months will be remembered in a special way. A relative or close friend will be invited to bring a lighting candle to the altar in their memory. Former parishioners who died elsewhere during the past year will also be remembered in a similar manner but their names should be handed in to Fr Hurley well in advance. As is customary the blessing of the graves in both parish cemeteries will take place after mass on the day.

MISSION PROJECT: On Sunday last we celebrated Mission Sunday and remembered the wonderful priests, nuns and brotheras, quite a few from our own parish, who have laboured in the mission fields in many parts of the world. One of those is Fr Chriss O’Donnell , a native of Meenoline and a member of the Pallotine Order in Argentina. He is coming home shortly to visit his family and will be attending the fund raising Céilí for his mission work, on Saturday, November 2nd at the Devon Inn Hotel. In a letter Fr Chriss says, “I’m most grateful to all who are helping to organise the Charity Céilí on November 2nd.

It´s purpose is to raise funds so that I can finish the work at the Chapel of Our Lady of Lujan, Mercedes, Argentina. The Chapel is one of our 6 mission centres in the parish and it is 16 miles from the parish where I live. The chapel and the small meeting room attached serves as a meeting place for children and adults who want to prepare themselves for Baptism, 1st Communion, Confirmation and for the “mission centre” pastoral meetings. At present we are putting the finishing touches to the roadway into the chapel. All the work will be finished by 8/12/2013 when it will be blessed by our bishop”.
