CASTLE OLIVER OPEN TO PUBLIC: In conjunction with the National Heritage week, Castle Oliver will be open to house tours over a day period, from Saturday August 17 to Sunday August 25.
The castle gates will be open at 11 am to 4 pm each day, guided tours at 12 noon, 2 pm and 4 pm, admission charges, adults €10, children €4, family tickets 2 adults + 2 children €26.
This is a wonderful opportunity for people to view this magnificent building as it is generally not open to the public, more information at www.castleoliver.ie.
MASS ON THE HILL: The annual graveyard mass on the hill of Ardpatrick will be celebrated on Sunday August 25 at 2 pm.
KILMALLOCK WALLED TOWN DAY: Celebrate Kilmallocks medieval heritage with a day of family fun at Colaiste Iosaef grounds 2-5 pm on Saturday August 17. There will be archery, battle re-enactments, markets, harpist, shoe-making, fancy dress, treasure hunt, town walk and much more. A walled town tour will take place at 11 am (meet in the car park) while Kings Castle and Blossom Gate and the town museum will be open from 10 am to 1 pm.
Artist Jane Howe will run a two day medieval workshop on costume making at Friars Gate on Thursday August 15 and 16 at 10am to 1pm, 5-12 years, fee €25 including all materials. Enquiries 063-98727.
