Milford Hospice: would like to thank all who supported their recent church gate collection. The amount raised was €1,206.64

Cappamore Show: Free bus leaving Doon from bus park and Post office cross at 12.30 and 1.45, returning at 5pm and 6pm.A fun filled day for all the family.

Milford Harvest Fair: Will take place on Sunday 1st September 2013. The Harvest Fair is moving to a new location this year and is taking place at the U.L. Arena. The Harvest Fair Committee once again appeals for your support in donating goods such as clothes, books, toys, bric-a-brac and all goods this year will be checked for quality before being accepted in order to minimise the major costs involved with the disposal of unsuitable items. Items will be accepted on the grounds of Milford Care Centre from Monday 19th August to Thursday 29th August, thereafter only confectionery will be accepted on the grounds of U.L. on the day of the Fair. Youth 2000 Summer Festival: will take place in the Cistercian College, Roscrea, from the 15th - 18th August. This is a four day Catholic event for youth aged 16-35. www.youth2000.ie or call 01 6753690 or 085 8289231 for further details.

Croagh Patrick Pilgrimage: on Saturday August 31st, bus leaving @ 8am. Contact Eibhlin Uí Chuimin on 086 8366735 for further details. Seats limited.

The Gathering: 20th/21st/22nd Sept. Next meeting on Tuesday 13th August at 8pm in the Community Centre. All are welcome.

Doon Historical Society Summer Outing: Fri 16th Aug. The tour will take in King John’s Castle Limerick, Quin Abbey Co Clare, the monastic sites of Scattery Island on the Shannon Estuary and the Vandeleur Estate and Gardens in Kilrush. Contact Donal Anderson on 086 8421747. Bus will depart Doon Community Centre at 8:30am. Names in as soon as possible please.

New Doon Cemetery Project: Volunteers are being sought for a project at the new (St Patrick’s) cemetery in Doon. The project involves the recording of all the inscriptions on the headstones of the cemetery. The inscriptions will be published in book form and will also be digitised.
