TIDY TOWNS: Members of Tarbert Tidy Towns are asking everyone in Tarbert to do their bit in advance of the Tidy Towns judge’s visit which could happen any time from now on. The Committee are deeply appreciative of the voluntary work done so far this year in spite of poor weather and the disruption caused by street digging during the past few months. Everyone who keeps their home or business front clean, tidy and painted is also doing a very important service to the town, its economy and the community. Businesses and homes combined with well kept public areas are the face of the town for locals and visitors. Its time too to get the window boxes out as they should be safe from frost from now on, it’s hard to beat them for adding a little cheer to the place.
PRIDE of PLACE: Pride of Place. The judges are coming on July 2, 2013 and we will be given a maximum of two and a half hours to impress them. The Competition Entry Document states ‘The Pride of Place Competition is all about acknowledging the selfless work being done by people in the community. It is recognition of the work being done to create communities for tomorrow while respecting the heritage and culture of the past. It is recognition of the work being done by community groups to create viable, and visible communities. This All-Ireland competition focus is on people coming together to shape, change and enjoy all that is good about their area’.
During the visit the judges will be introduced to community representatives and will afterwards physically visit various locations.
