Community Games: The group singers and musicians competed in the county finals in Caherconlish and Askeaton last week end. The group musicians won silver medals in Caherconlish and the singers won bronze in Askeaton. The members are Adela & Luisa Azzopardi, Maggie Mulcair, Maeve Gloster & Rebecca Carroll. This is a very talented group of musicians and singers. We would like to thank Nives Carroll for instructing them over the last number of weeks. We wish Banogue/Croom/Manister and Croagh/Kilfinny the best of luck at the national finals in Athlone in May.

Draughts: The u14 team will represent Limerick at the Munster finals in Tralee on Saturday 30th March. The members are Naoise McGarrigle, Jai Chaudri, Tadhg O Shaughnessy, Ashling O Shaughnessy, Ross Cusack, Darragh O Brien and Micheal Cuddihy. Team are managed by Eanna McGarrigle.

Table Tennis: The u13 girls team will make their way to Tralee to represent Limerick at the Munster finals. Team is managed by John Tierney assisted by John Mangan and Sean Cuddihy. Team members are: Rebecca O Brien, Rebecca Carroll, Zoe Mangan, Sarah Leahy and Lana Cooke. We wish them the best of luck.

Rounders Training: Training for girls u13 rounders has commenced. We wish to thank Olive Fitzgerald and Siobhan Carey who are giving up their time to train the girls. Athletics Training: It is hoped to commence athletic training in mid April. The training has gone very well over the last number of years with a growing number of children taking part. We would like to recruit some more helpers for the training to make it even more successful. Recent Death: Just a week after her brother Gerard died, Christina Ryan’s mother Mrs McNamara , Maple Court, Kennedy Park died. To Christina, Castletown and her children Sheila & Emily we offer our deepest sympathy.

The Gathering & 150th Anniversary of St. Mary’s Church: A public meeting to discuss organising events and entertainment will be held on Wednesday 3rd April at 8pm in the library, Pallaskenry. All are welcome to attend. Community members who are accomplished musicians, singers and dancers are asked to contribute to the entertainment which is planned for Sunday afternoon 9th June 2013.

Pallaskenry Community Council: Pallaskenry community council are now due to hold elections. Persons in the community council area over 18 are entitled to nominate persons residing in the area of the community council. The nomination paper shows the number of persons in each election area to be elected to the council. For example, Church View are entitled to elect one member, An Curran/Rosschoill 2 members. Should you wish to nominate a person or persons to the council, put their name and address on the nomination form. It will then be necessary to obtain their permission and signature. To ensure the continuation of the good work which has been undertaken by the council over the years it is necessary that new blood come on board, with new ideas and enthusiasm. The recent refurbishment of the community centre is a great example of this good work, and the local community now has a great facility which is getting great use by both young and old. It is hoped that the newly elected council will be operating by May. Nomination forms should be left into designated boxes in the local shops by 25/04/13.
