RACE NIGHT: The Community Development Committee held a very successful Race Night in the Coach Inn recently to raise funds for the new Astra Turf development which is well underway. There was compensation for the organisers for their hard work as the Race Night programme was doubly sponsored and the crowd turned up. The locals by their support showed there is goodwill towards the development. However it was the support of our exiles that was most encouraging. For example Don, Irene, Craig, Pete and Kylie Madigan from Brisbane, Fr. John Madigan from Seattle, John McCarthy from Perth, Rurai Maher from Brisbane, Michael John and Donal O’Shaughnessy from Edinburgh and Canberra along with many others all sent their support. Fr. John in his message reminisced on bygone days and on his return visits down the years saw each succeeding generation adding their mark to improve our Community and clearly the present generation are no different. One message in the Race Book is to the newest venture in Kilcornan from the oldest Parishioner namely Margaret Madigan a great supporter of all things Kilcornan.
