KILFINANE ATHLETIC CLUB : Munster Masters on Sunday last 24 March 2013, Seven Kilfinane AC runners made the trip to Moyglass in Tipperary for the Munster Masters 4 mile road championships. Despite the cold weather, conditions were good for running this hilly course with 179 runners taking to the start. Highlight of the day was James Gubbins coming away with another Munster medal as part of the Limerick O35 team which won bronze in a very competitive event. What a year James has had, adding a Masters Bronze to the Novice Silver and Senior Bronze won at the recent 4 mile Senior and Novice Road championships. 3 Munster medals this year and his fourth to date is an impressive haul for someone who took up the sport only a few years ago. The Kilfinane AC ladies team reached a milestone for the club by becoming the first team to represent the club at Masters level. On the day they gave a great account of themselves finishing in Seventh place overall, a great platform for our ladies team to build on. This team of 5 ladies have only recently joined the club and have shown great commitment and enthusiasm and have certainly made a big impression since coming on board. Breda Bridges led the ladies home in 31:46, Niamh Doody 33:48, Patricia Wade 33:51, Helen Fitzgerald O’Sullivan 37:52 and Una Power 38:18, great times over a challenging championship course. In the men’s event the club had 2 participants with James Gubbins coming home in Fifthteenth overall in a PB time of 22:18 and Sean Manning also running a PB of 24:52. IMRA Wicklow Way Trail Race : Adrian Hennessey had an excellent Fifth place out of 194 competitors in the Wiclow Way Trail race which was held on Saturday 23 March. Joey Hannon Memorial 10k Croom : The Joey Hannan Memorial 10k took place on St. Partricks Day in Croom. Great results again from the 5 club runners who took part on the day. Well done to Donnacha Enright who ran his first sub 40 in an excellent time of 39:10. Seamus Hourigan also posted a sub 40 of 39:36 which is a remarkable result considering Seamus’s recent injury woes. 3 ladies made the trip to Croom with Agne Bulyceva running a great time of 46:39. Breda Bridges in her first race for the club had an excellent run in a time of 47:39 and was first O40 lady on the day. Well done to Una Power on another great run, completing the course in 60:56 UL 5K SERIES : Well done to Agne Bulyceva who claimed the Second overall ladies prize in the UL 5K series, after a set of improving and consistent times over the series. Both Agne and Sean Manning completed all 6 races in the series which finished up on 21 March, great dedication by both. Award for Edd Valatka : Congratulations to Edd Valatka who was announced the inaugural winner of the Limerick Sports Partnership “Performance in Sport Award” for February for his outstanding performances at Cross Country (U17 - Intermediate) level where Edd claimed Second place in the North Munster finals, Third place in the Munster finals and Eleventh place in the All-Ireland schools final.
