REMEMBERING THE SICK: Dear Jesus, Healer of the sick, we remember all who are ill at home or in hospital. Michael Nora, Vera, Brian Frank, Kathleen, Anne, Paddy, Nancy, Olive, Nora, Breda, Kathleen, TJ, Charlie Pat, David, Anthony, Bill and baby Dara. Grant them the grace and strength to accept their burden. We place them under your care and humbly ask that you restore them to health again. Above all, grant them the grace to acknowledge your will and know that whatever you do, you do for the love of them. Amen.

SCOIL IDE JUNIOR INFANT ENROLMENT: The closing date for Junior Infant Applications is February 1st. Application forms available from outside the school office or download one from www.scoilide.ie

SECONDARY APPLICATIONS: Parents of 6th Class pupils should have sent in their application forms to their first choice secondary school by now. The closing date is just after the Christmas holidays and late applications cannot be processed because of the common enrolment procedure.

Age is not an excuse for giving up. Allowing yourself to grow passive and drawback is a sign of personal defeat. There may be a retirement age at work, but there is no retirement age in life.

THANK YOU: Fr. Derek wishes to thank all who contributed to the Christmas dues collection. Envelopes can still be handed in any time to the sacristy or at Mass.

JANUARY 15th – KILEEDY CELEBRATES ST ITA: The parish of Killeedy is closely associated with the life and work of St Ita. St Ita founded her monastery there in 546.

Bishop Brendan Leahy will join their parish priest Fr John Keating and the people of Killeedy on Wednesday January 15th in celebrating the feast of St Ita- patroness of the Diocese.

In the tradition and spirit of St Ita the people of Killeedy make January 15th a day of prayer and celebration. Raheenagh Church will be full to capacity for concelebrated Mass at 11am.

Afterwards people will “pay the rounds” at St Ita’s Shrine.

Mass will be celebrated in Ashford Church at 7.30pm.

Legend has it that Ita had a little cell built for herself away from the convent (probably made of thatch and wattle) and there she would spend some hours each day in quiet prayer.

In keeping with this practice there will be 24hour Eucharistic Adoration in Raheenagh Church commencing after 10am Mass on Tuesday 14th Jan.
