Coláiste Mhuire News : Young Scientist: Highly Commended!

Many Congratulations to Conor Daly (1st Year) who represented Coláiste Mhuire at the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition in Dublin. Conor’s project, Can Alternate feeds change the production of hens’ eggs, was Highly Commended by the judges at the competition. We are very proud of Conor’s hard work and achievement. Well done to Ms Burke who mentored Conor during his project. Conor is pictured above with Ms Susan Burke, Science Teacher and Mr Sean Burke, CEO of Limerick & Clare Education & Training Board.

Cyberbullying Presentation: Dr Maureen Griffin made a welcome return to Coláiste Mhuire on Monday 13th January to give her very topical and eye-opening presentation on Cyberbullying and Safety on the Internet. Dr Griffin presented to all students during the day and to parents/guardians on Monday night. Maureen shared her experiences from her research and from talking to students around Ireland. She gave students tips on privacy settings for Facebook and other social media sites. She updated them on the various hazards that exist online. She gave students very good advice on how to stay safe online and how to deal with unpleasant experiences on social media. Her presentation was most informative and easy to follow.

Parent/Teacher meetings: Reminder that the Parent/Teacher meeting for Parents/Guardians of 2nd year students takes place this Wednesday, 15th January from 4-6pm.

Parent/teacher meeting for Parents/Guardians of 1st year students will be held on Tuesday 28th January from 4.15pm-6.45pm.
