70 YEARS OLD: The east Limerick GAA board was formed back in 1944 in Caherconlish. Pat O’ Reilly was first chairman and in 1945 Mick Croker, Ballinagarde and South Liberties was vice chairman. He remained in this position for six years. Willie Kennedy, Ballybricken took part in the initial meeting in 1943 with the view of forming the board. Since the formation of the board Eddie Wade has held the position of chairman and his club South Liberties won the first east Limerick senior hurling in 1971.

They won the east junior double in 1944. The same year they won the minor hurling.
