BT Young Scientist: John the Baptist school in Hospital was represented by 15 students, consisting of 7 groups doing different projects. Past pupil from Ballylanders national school David Noonan jnr. From Spittle and Caoimhe O Dea from Kilteely entered a project, an Eco friendly Greenhouse made primarily from 2 litre plastic bottles. They were highly commended for their project in the intermediate group biological & Eco biological section. Check out this project on www.ecofriendlygreenhouse.weebly.com. Cathal Shanahan a past pupil from Glenbrohane national school, Brian Thompson and Ian Dooley also had a project in the competition. Their entry was an App for farm machinery theft control which won a Google group award and was highly commended in the Intermediate group technology section.

Ballylanders & District Special Needs Association: Are organising our trip to Lourdes in June 2014 from the 16th – 21st, anyone interested in travelling with us are asked to contact the following with your details Monica at 087-4138472, John at 087-7584969, or Margaret at 087-7773684, thank you. A meeting of the above said committee will be held in the Day care on this coming Monday night January 20th at 8pm and a call is going out to interested parties to attend as it is hoped new members, volunteers etc. would be willing to give of their time to a very worthy cause.

Chiropodist: Will attend the Daycare Centre on Monday 3rd February at 2pm

Death: The death of David O Connell, native of Ballyshane Glenroe occurred in England recently where internment took place. He is deeply regretted by his wife Jean, sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, Brothers Tommy Kilgarriff, Jim and Sisters Kathleen & Lizzie extended family, relatives, neighbors and friends.
