WEEKLY NOVENA: Every Tuesday at the 10am and 5.45pm Mass there will be a novena celebrated in honour of St Anthony. All are very welcome to attend. Also petition leaflets are available at the statue of St Anthony. You can leave your petitions there to be included during the novena Masses.

ADORATION: Adoration is held here in the Cathedral from Monday to Saturday. Morning prayer is offered for various needs; Monday is for the dead, Tuesday is Eucharistic Congress, Wednesday and Thursday is private intention, Friday is Victims of Abuse, Saturday is Forgiveness for the sins of the Church. Adoration is from 9am to 10am.

BAPTISMS: Baptism’s takes place on Saturday evenings at 4.30pm only. When booking a baptism please call in to St John’s Parish Office and please bring with you the birth certificate of the child. For parents who are not living in St John’s parish you will need a note of permission from one of the priests in your own parish. The baptism preparation meeting will take place the first and third Tuesday of each month in the Parish Centre. Both parents must attend the baptism preparation meeting, this prep meeting must be attended before the baptism can take place, the Godparents are invited to this meeting also. PARISHIONER: If you have a family member in a nursing home and they would like a visit from one of the priest’s of St John’s parish then please contact the Sacristan or the Parish Office on 414624

CEMETRY: There will be prayers in Mount Saint Laurence at 3pm every Sunday for the month of November. Sunday, November 10 the prayers will be lead by St MarY’s parish.

TRÓCAIRE: In Syria over 100,000 people have lost their lives after two years of war and over 8.4m people – approximately half of whom are children - are in need of humanitarian assistance. This crisis is unfolding in an area of great historical and religious significance for Christians worldwide. The situation faced by the people of Syria is a critical one with the country facing the worst humanitarian crisis in a generation. Trócaire is working in partnership with local church agencies in Syria and along neighbouring borders to support survivors. Since 2011, vital emergency aid has reached over 273,000 people. A collection to support the people of Syria will be taken up at all masses next Saturday and Sunday, November 16 17. Your support will help to get food, water, clothing, shelter, medical and psycho-social supports to those most in need.

ST ANTHONY’S RELICS: A grateful word of thanks to all Cathedral staff and helpers who made the visit of St Anthony’s Relics such a wonderful success. It was a day of blessing for St. John’s, the Diocese and all the pilgrims who attended.

SONGS OF FAITH : At the Songs of Faith event on October 13 a crowd of 150 enjoyed the big hymn sing. In the aftermath of the event, the Friends of St John’s Choir has been founded consisting of former choir members and any singers who are willing to lead the congregational singing from the body of the church.
