KNOCKAINEY AFC UNDER 6: On Saturday 19th October at 3pm Knockainey u6 girls took to the pitch for their first soccer blitz of the season. From a squad of 11 girls, this was the first ever outing for 8 of the girls, and what a performance they gave. Our first game was against Holycross. With Ailbhe minding the goals, Aine and Ava kicked off the game with great support from Abigail, Caoimhe and Ella to keep the ball moving. Aoibhe, Millie and Kate worked hard in defence to keep the ball out of the Knockainey goals. With a change of goalie to Brona and adding Rita to mid-field the team settled down and continued to play. A free kick taken by Rita, resulted in a goal scored by a stunned Ava. Holycross fought back and took shot after shot on Brona, who shone in her goal saving skills. Alas, Holycross managed to get 2 goals into the Knockainey net and won the game 2-1. Well done Holycross! Our second game was against Kilmallock. The Knockainey girls lined out and gave everything they had to keep the ball moving towards the Kilmallock goals. Well done to the team: Ava Burke, Aoibhe Madden, Rita Terren-Hogan, Ella Corbett, Aine Mulcahy, Caoimhe Doody, Abigail Buckley, Ailbhe McNamara, Millie Pearson-Jones, Kate Egan and Brona Hayes. Thanks to Tommy Burke for refereeing all the u6 games and to all the parents for continuing to support the team
