CALCUTTA CALLING: Maura Allen is again returning to Calcutta. A fundraising table quiz is being held at the Central Bar, Bruree, on this Friday, November 8, starting at 9.00 pm. Subscription for a team of four is just â‚¬20. Every euro raised on the night will go directly to Calcutta. Your support on the night would be greatly appreciated. The quiz is to raise much needed funds to continue supporting a project in Calcutta started by Fr. Pat Hogan and his group back in 2005.
PHOTOS: The photos collected for the Gathering weekend are now available to view in the De Valera Museum and De Valera Heritage Centre. The centre is open Monday to Thursday 9.00 to 5.00 and Friday 9.00 to 4.30 pm.
ROCKHILL AND BRUREE COMMUNITY HALL: Now taking bookings for the autumn and winter season! STEPPING STONES PLAYSCHOOL: The after-school service at Stepping Stones Community Playschool has started and is doing really well. Remember, the playschool want everyone to avail of this handy service and also want to make it affordable for everyone. Families in receipt of social welfare payments can avail of the service from 2.00 - 3.00 pm every day from as little as â‚¬5 per week. GAA: Players Development Fund: Bruree GAA is holding its annual Player Development Fund annual draw again this year. The 2013 draw has â‚¬4,500 in prizes over four weekly draws. And the good news is that the subscription is still the same - just â‚¬20 for the four draws. The first draw will be held on Monday, December 2nd, with the other draws on subsequent Monday nights. The prizes for each of the first three draws are 1st â‚¬500 2nd â‚¬200 and three prizes of â‚¬100. The Grand Prize in the final draw on Monday, December 23rd is â‚¬1,000 with a second prize of â‚¬200 and three prizes of â‚¬100. To participate in the final draw the full subscription must have been paid. The club caters for a total of nineteen teams at underage and adult level and your continued support for the draw will ensure that the club can continue to provide for everyone in the parish who wishes to participate in our gaelic games. COMPUTER FOR FARMERS: Farmers would you like to use the online services of the Department of Agriculture? Would you like to send emails to family and friends? Would you like to do your banking and tax your car on the internet? Irish Rural Link is providing the Benefit 4 Programme (Basic Computer Training) to people all across Ireland. These courses teach the basics of computers such as how to turn on your computer, use the internet, shop and pay bills online, send and receive emails, use online government services, and contact friends and family on Skype etc. Course are completed over 8 hours (4 x 2 hour classes) and cost just â‚¬20 per person. Bruree-based computer training service, Mobile IT, in association with Ballyhoura Development, has delivered the courses at a number of venues across the Ballyhoura area since October. The next course is aimed at the Farming Community and will run at Mobile ITâ€™s training centre in Bruree. It starts on Wednesday 13th November 2013, from 7.30pm â€“ 9.30pm, and continues on Wednesday 20th November, Wednesday 27th November, and Wednesday 4th December.
