Tuar Na Fola C.C.E: The AGM of the Tournafulla Comhaltas Craobh took place on Tuesday, October 29th.

After the various reports, the election of officers took place. It was good to see new faces being elected on to the Board. The Ofiicers elected were as follows: Chairman, Conor O’ Sullivan,. Vice Chair, Joe Collins. Secretary, Dan Curtin, Treasurer, Christine Brennan, Auditor Yvonne Smith, Public Relations Officer, Helen Broderick, Treori na Gaeilge, John Paul O’ Sullivan, Youth officer Gretta Curtin. Responsibility for delegation to the county board was shared by other members. Up for discussion was the increasing number of pupils this year, the forthcoming christmas Concert with special guest, the Striolan Ceili band, our new FaceBook page, and more. The branch is growing in numbers and strength and parential participation is on the increase. The standard of music has risen considerably, and groupai cheoil assembly is getting closer to realisation. We were saddened to see our longest standing officer resign. Peggy O’ Sullivan has given many years of service to the branch, and was part of the committee for over eighteen years. She has been a steady and hardworking member since her own children were only six years old, and has shown a terrific example to other parents. She assures us that she will still be available to lend a hand, and for this we are truly grateful We wish her the very best in her retirement from the board and sincerely thank her for her many years of service.

We offered a vote of sympathy on the passing of former true friend of our branch, Sgt John Casey. Rest in Peace.

The meeting finished on a high note, and with enthusiasm and determination for a good strong branch going in to next year.

CHRISTMAS MARKET: The Christmas Market will take place in Halla Tadhg Gaelach in Tournafulla on Sunday, December1, beginning at 1.30. Last year over 800 people attended this event. We will have all the usual stalls with plenty of local produce, artisan foods, handcrafts etc. Santa Claus will be there and you can have your photograph taken with him. While they are waiting for Santa the children will be entertained by a magician and there will also be art work for them to do. So put the date in your diary.

COFFEE NIGHT: A coffee night in aid of Milford Hospice will be held in the Goal Post Bar on Thursday, November 14, beginning at 8.30 p.m. The event was started many years ago by the late Peg D. O’Connor of Knockanaire. Since her passing her family, Eileen, Joan, Mary and Danny Boy and their families have continued the event with great success. I know you will support this very worthy cause.
