MORNING STAR BASKETBALL: The Morning Star Basketball Club is back in action again for the 2013/2014 season. They have more teams this year with the addition of U11’s They have girls under 10, 11, 12, 14, 16 and 18. In addition there is a ladies training night. Starting on Monday’s they have U11 and 12 training, on Tuesdays, the ladies, on Wednesdays the U14’s, 16’s, and 18’s. Fridays the U10’s. The U10’s and 11’s are uncompetitive.

On Sunday they hosted a club from Limerick City “Rockets”. A very enjoyable game for the U 11’s, and 12’s. The under 11 panel – Suzanne O’Regan, Nano McCarthy, Lisa Upton, Mollie Lloyd, Sarah Buckley, Niamh Walsh, Sarah Jane Cooke, Caoimhe Real, Ciara O’Donaghue, Anna Doherty, and Carly Hayes. The U12’s Maria Harhen, Jade Kelly, Moya Bourke, Sinead Murphy, Lauren Houlihan, Aisling Real, Sarah Carew, Celenia Sheerin Sheerin White, Rebecca Hart, Berenice Ryan.

The club appreciates the effort and support of its players and parents in keeping the club as active as ever. There are a number of home games between now and Christmas so hopefully the players won’t succumb to the many flues and colds that are rampant at this time of year. A number of their players are out at the moment and we wish them a speedy recovery.

BEREAVEMENT: We extend out sympathy to Seamus Donovan and family, Oldtown, on the death of his brother John. Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. John the Baptist church, and burial afterwards to the adjoining cemetery.

TEA DANCE: To take place in Knockainey Community Centre next Sunday November 10, music by “Touch of Blarney”. Tea and scones as usual, admission €5.

GAA: The club congratulate their treasurer Pat Foley who married Lorraine Dunne last Saturday in Co. Meath. It was great to see the Munster Minor and Senior Hurling Cups on display for what was a memorable day. Best of luck to them in the future.

The club extend it’s sympathy to the Donovan family on their recent loss.

The pre-AGM takes place November 14, all nominations and motions to the secretary asap. The AGM will be held Thursday 5 December.

Indoor hurling on Thursday from 6 – 7 in the community school gym for all boys and girls aged 7 years and down. 7 – 8 session for all ages over 7 – 12 every week. New players welcome to attend any session.

The Club are now selling helmets, hurlers, jerseys and gum shields to all players at discount rates, ask any coach for details.

BORD NA NOG: The new club Bord na nOg 2014 calendar will be on sale in the next few weeks. The calendar will be featuring team photos from all the underage teams from U16’s down to our new U5’s playing indoor hurling. They will be on sale for €5. Bord na nOg thank all the local business’s in the community for their great response, the club is grateful to all of them who took ads in this calendar to help them in this end of year fundraiser to help the club in their continued efforts to support their underage teams.
