Card Games: The Card playing season will commence in Mountcollins Community Centre on this Thursday night at 9pm. The games are a great pastime and will help to pass away a few hours during the long winter nights. All card players are welcome to come along and enjoy the event in friendly surroundings.

Ceili: The monthly ceili in Halla Tadhg Gaelach, Tournafulla will be held on this Friday night, November 8th commencing at 9.30 pm. The band on stage this month will be the Allow Ceili Band. Refreshments will be served during the evening and all are welcome.

Business Closure: It was another disappointing week for the local community with the news of another small business closing in the village. The local take-away “Fryer Tuck” provided a valuable service for the past number of years serving tasty food to the public as well as catering for birthday parties and family celebrations. It was also a valuable source of part-time employment and we wish Ben and her staff all the best for the future.

45 Card Game: The annual €2,000 45 card game will be held in Raheenagh Hall on Tuesday, November 19th, commencing at 9pm. Admission is €10. There will also be a monster raffle during the evening and refreshments will also be available. There will be a supervised car park and all are welcome.

Charity run/walk: Participants taking part in the charity 5k run in Mountcollins on Sunday week, November 17th, should now be getting into shape. The event will commence at the Community Centre at 2.30pm with registration form 11.15am to 12.15pm. All proceeds will go the Ray of Sunshine Foundation which will see local volunteers, Mary Barry, Patrick Lenihan and Seamus Hickey travel to Kenya in January 2014 to help in the construction of a school for deprived children in Mombasa. All support would be very much appreciated.

GAA Lotto: The numbers drawn in last week’s Mountcollins/Tournafulla GAA lotto were 8, 14, 25 and 30. There was no winner of the jackpot prize. The winners of lucky dip prizes were : Sophie Flavin, Tarbert, Mary Phil McCarthy, Mountcollins, John Cronin, Brosna and Kieran O’Callaghan, Tournafulla. The promoter’s prize went to John Lenihan. This week’s draw will be held in the Goal Posts Bar, Tournafulla where the jackpot will be €2,000

GAA News: The under 21 footballers of Feale Rangers get back to winning ways on last Friday night in round two of the county premier championship. In a tough physical game played under lights at Killbreedy the Rangers side produced a fine performance in defeating Oola by 1-8 to 6 pts. Round three will be played this Friday night against Na Piarsaigh. Please see fixtures for times and venue.

Soccer Lotto: There was no jackpot winner in last week’s soccer lotto where the numbers drawn were 10, 13, 22 and 25. The winners of the lucky dip draw were William Clifford, Cragg, Abbeyfeale, Millie, Kayla and Darragh Sheehy, Duagh, Padraig McCoy, C/O Kostal and Carmel Hasson, Lower Rd, Mountcollins. The winner of the promoter’s prize was Joan O’Grady. This week’s jackpot will be €12,700.
