SOCCER LOTTO: The numbers drawn last weeks soccer lotto were 4, 11, 21 and 24. There was no winner of the jackpot prize. CEILI: Friday September 13 will see the first ceili of the new season getting underway at Halla Tadgh Gaelach, Tournafulla. Music will be provided by the Striolan Ceili Band. Dancing will commence at 9.30pm. There will be refreshments served on the night and all are welcome.
GAA LOTTO: The Mountcollins/Tournafulla GAA clubs lotto was once again the topic of much debate in the parish during the past week. Since its inception two years ago the jackpot wins have now reached double figures which must be a national record. The number drawn were 1, 14, 18 and 21. Well done to Neil McGrath and Tom Enright c/o Kostal who matched the winning combination and share the â‚¬2,000 jackpot. The lucky dips went to Majella O Mahony and Cathal Morley-Collins both Tournafulla, Pa Delee, Mountcollins, and Pat Keating c/o Tadgh O Connors, Hardware. The winner of the promoters prize was Mike Sheehy. This weeks Jack pot is â‚¬1,000 and the draw will be held in The Goal Post Bar, Tournafulla.
SENIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP: Mountcollins played Ballylanders in round 4 of the Senior Football Championship in Feanagh on Sunday evening last. Mountcollins came out of the blocks all guns blazing and took their early chances and lead at half time by five points to three. Mountcollins continued their good scoring in the second half and after a well taken penalty by Pa Delee seemed to be cruising to victory with a lead of 1-6 to 3pts with 15 minutes to go. However it wasnâ€™t to be as Ballylanders hit back with two goals in quick concessions. Mountcollins tried in vain to battle back but Ballylanders ran out winners on a score line of 2-9 to 1-9. Mountcollins now face Abbeyfeale in the final round where a win is a must.
