KNOCKFIERNA HERITAGE SOCIETY: Knockfierna Heritage Society are holding their annual traditional bonfire night on Sunday next 23rd June. Proceeded by an evening of gramophone music at The Rambling House, Knockfierna. Mannix Joyce weekend will take place on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th at the Rambling House also. It will begin on Saturday night at 7.30pm and on Sunday special guest speaker Donnacha O’Dulaing from RTE will begin at 2pm followed by walk & traditional entertainment.

GRAVEYARD MAPPING: As part of the West Limerick Graveyard Mapping Project, trained volunteers will be conducting surveys in a number of graveyards across the West Limerick area for two weeks starting June 24th to July 6th with the support of Eachtra Archaeological Services. The results of all surveys will be uploaded to the website historicgraves.com where they can be accessed from anywhere in the world. FUNDRAISING EVENT: West Limerick 102fm are holding a flag day to raise funds for the station on Saturday 29th June in Newcastle West from 9am to 6pm. Your support would be much appreciated.

GREAT SOUTHERN TRAIL: The 22 mile (36Km) walk along the old railway from Abbeyfeale to Rathkeale takes place on Saturday next 22nd June at 10.30am. The meeting point is at The Old Station, Railway Road, Abbeyfeale. Those intending to walk the entire route and receive a commemorative certificate should have registered with Liam O’Mahony, 9 Bishop St., Newcastle West or email: greatsoutherntrail@gmail.com by now. All other participants are welcome free of charge and need only turn up for whatever length/starting point that suits them. See www.southerntrail.net for detailed itinerary. RAMBLING HOUSE: On Thursday next, June 27th , there will be a Rambling House in Monagea Parish Hall. Singers, musicians, story tellers and dancers are all welcome to perform or if you would just like to come along to enjoy the entertainment. Proceeding get under way at 9pm and a great nights entertainment is guaranteed.
