TREES: The ground at the junction of Coill Mhara and the Gael Scoil has had a number of the trees in the corner area removed in the past week. Trees at the front of the Leisure Centre were also removed and more trees are being felled by Dun an Oir.
SPRING FAIR: The Carrigoran House Spring Fair will take place this weekend on Sunday afternoon from 1pm. This is the Sixth annual fair and hopefully huge numbers of people will attend. It always proves to be a great fun day for everyone!
OFFICIAL OPENING: Carrigoran House Newmarket-on-Fergus officially opened their Day and Education Centre on Monday. The Official opening was performed by Dr James Reilly TD Minister for Health and Children.
Bishop Kieran Oâ€™Reilly: SMA Bishop of Killaloe blessed the centre. The new state of the art facility and beautiful gardens have been provided by Carrigoran for the people of the parishes of Shannon, Newmarket-on-Fergus and Sixmilebridge. Shannon parish has the use of the facilities on a Tuesday and is available to our Senior Citizens.
CONAIRES: St. Conaireâ€™s Parentsâ€™ Association Sponsored 5K Family Fun Walk will take place on Friday evening at 6pm. The walk will start from the school, a great night is promised.
CAMOGIE CLUB : Please support Wolfe Tones Camogie Club by taking part in the annual 10k/5k Run/Walk, in memory of Breege Keane, on Sunday April 14. Participants can register on the morning of the run from 10.30am in the clubhouse.
PIONEER WALK: The Shannon Area Pioneer Regional Council walk will take place from The Auburn Lodge Hotel, Ennis on Sunday April 20th. Pioneer members are asked to register by 2.30pm, the fee is â‚¬10. After the walk there will be tea and biscuits provided free for each walker.
LOURDES: This yearâ€™s Pilgrimage will take place from June 26 to July 1 under the leadership of Bishop Kieran Oâ€™Reilly SMA. The cost is â‚¬670 per person sharing direct from Shannon Airport. This is the 100th anniversary of the first Irish Pilgrimage to Lourdes when pilgrims travelled overland.
BUS SHELTER: A section of the old bus shelter at Aidan Park has blown out on the ground. Hopefully the shelter will be repaired or the panel removed.
KICKBOXING: Shannon Kickboxing club has organised an event in the Oakwood Arms on this Saturday April 13, doors open at 6.45pm. Go and support your local kick boxers compete.
MENâ€™S SHED: A â€˜drop-inâ€™ group meet in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere every Tuesday morning at 10.30am in Ballycasey Craft Centre organised by the Family Resource Centre. Men of all ages welcome. Contact number for more information is 061 707600.
BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT: The Shannon Bereavement Committee Meeting will take place at the Health Centre on Monday night at 7.30pm.
POLISH MASS: Fr. Dariusz Plaska will celebrate Mass in Shannon for the Polish community on Sunday evening at 5pm in SS John & Paul Church with confessions from 4.30pm. Parishioners are asked to let members of the Polish community know.
