Recent Death:The death has occurred in Cluain Arann Nursing Unit, Tipperary of Kathleen Hughes, (nee Conway), Longstone, Cullen. Kathleen, who was predeceased by her brother Christy, is survived by her husband John, daughters Josephine and Margaret, son Pat, brothers Paddy and Matt, sisters Sr. Camillus, Sr. Sylvester, Sr. Jane and Teresa, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Removal took place from her residence to St. Patrick’s Church, Cullen, where Requiem Mass was celebrated last Tuesday, followed by burial in the New Cemetery, Lattin.

Shronell National School Fundraiser: A Natural Health & Wellbeing Evening will take place in the Canon Ryan GAA Hall, Lattin on Thursday, April 18, at 7.30pm. This is a fundraiser for Shronell National School and there will be an entry fee of €5 on the door. Guest speakers on the night will be Avril Lane Watson, B.Ed.(Hons), N.D.Dip.AC., Acupuncturist, Naturopath and Janette Wycherely, BScPharm, MPSI, Dip.Herb, N.D., Pharmacist, Herbalist and Naturopath. This promises to be an interesting evening. All are welcome and refreshments will be served.

Lattin Tennis Club: Lattin Tennis Club will hold its Annual General Meeting next Saturday, April 13, at 8.30pm in the clubhouse. we encourage everyone to attend. Our registration night for the forthcoming year will take place on Tuesday, April 16, from 7.30 to 8.30pm in the clubhouse. Our membership fees remain unchanged since last year so we look forward to meeting you all on both nights!

Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann: The Lattin-Cullen branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann would like to thank the community most sincerely for their very generous support of our recent church gate collection which raised €516. Learners’ session classes take place during April and May in the Canon Ryan Memorial Hall at the slightly later time of 6.45 pm. Television Appearance: Following nationwide auditions before Christmas, local young musicians Shane McGrath, Kevin Kinane and Patrick and Simon Crehan were chosen to represent Lattin-Cullen GAA Club in a new television programme, based on Scór na nÓg, which is broadcast on Sunday evenings on TG4 at 8pm. The show is called ‘Scór Encore’ and in their heat, which was shown last Sunday, they were deemed the winners, thus progressing to the final stages of the competition. Tune in to TG4 at 8pm on Sundays from 5th May to see how they get on!

Youth Club: Congratulations to all in Lattin/Cullen Youth Club who won an award at the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Tipperary Town. The theme of their entry was entitled Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Thanks to everyone who participated and helped out to make it a very enjoyable event.

Soccer: The Junior A Team recorded a vital one nil victory away to Glengoole in the team’s final Division One match of the season last Sunday. The all important goal was scored by Timmy Heffernan. In underage soccer, the 13s were defeated in the semi-final of the cup by Herbertstown, while the 15s had an impressive victory over the same club’s B team in the Shield.

The winner of the club’s recent Lucky Strike competition was John Breen. Thanks to all who supported and sponsored prizes in the club raffle, The winners were as follows; €100 Joe Nash, Cullen; Castle Oaks Hotel voucher Nora McSweeney, Lattin; Hamper Jack Ryan, Lattin; Whiskey Paul Cranley, Lattin; Vodka John Glasheen, Ballyrobin, Large Easter Egg Diarmuid O’Halloran.

Race Night: The Soccer Club will host a launch night for its upcoming race night in Quinlan’s Pub, Cullen on this Saturday night, April 13. The race night will take place in Limerick Greyhound Stadium on June 1. Over the next few weeks committee members will be calling to houses in the area seeking support for a draw associated with the race night. Also on Saturday night, the club’s First and Second Team players of the year will be presented with their awards.

Summer Camp: Application forms for the Soccer Club’s annual summer camp will be collected from national schools in the area on this Friday. The summer camp will take place from July 1 to 5 inclusive.

Open Day: Mount Bruis National School will hold an open day on Thursday, April 18, from 2 to 3 pm. All parents and their children, who may be enrolling next September, are welcome to come along to meet staff and view facilities at the school.

Ladies Football: Training times for under 6,8,10,12,14 and 16s continues every Friday at 6.30 pm. The Under 16s are waiting patiently for Thurles Sarsfields for confirmation on last match. Junior ladies training continues every Friday at 8 pm. As the league is starting shortly, new members are always welcome.

Wedding Bells: Congrats to Mary Purcell and Tim Butler who were married last Saturday in Kilkenny. Many of the Junior Ladies travelled to the afters and had a ball. Best of luck to both of them for the future.
