PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK: the Apostolate of Eucharistic Adoration is holding its first ever annual Pilgrimage to Knock, to celebrate the Year of Faith on Saturday April 20th 2013. If sufficient numbers are interested in travelling a bus will be organised. Contact Joan at 087-2715765 if you intend to travel.

KNOCKAINEY AFTERNOON TEA DANCE: last tea dance of the current season in Knockainey Community Centre takes place on Sunday April 14th at 3pm. Music by the fabulous Sam O’Doherty. Dancing from 3pm to 6pm. Tea and refreshments will be served. Raffle on the day. Admission EUR5. Come along and be part of an evening of great music, dancing, home baked refreshments, tea and chat.

KNOCKAINEY HISTORICAL & CONSERVATION SOCIETY: are hosting a concert with the award winning folk vocalist David O’Connor at St. John’s Church, Knockainey on Friday April 12th at 8.30pm. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Irish Injured Jockey’s Fund. Tickets EUR25. Contact Eliza on 086 3412828 or any committee member.

DAFFODIL DAY COOKERY DEMONSTRATION: raised EUR2054.10, a sincere thank you to all who supported this fundraiser and made it such a brilliant success.

LOUGH GUR PARENT & TODDLER GROUP: meet every Monday from 9.30am to 11am at the Honey Fitz Theatre. Parents and children are welcome to enjoy the spacious facility while enjoying a cup of tea and coffee. Toys are provided at the centre or bring your own to share with others.

KNOCKAINEY AFC LOTTO: there was no winner of the lotto last week, which was held in Moloney’s Bar, Knockainey last Friday night. The numbers drawn were 4, 6, 13 and 14. Lucky dip winners; 4 x EUR20 Ger Sheedy, Bruff, Kevin Lynch, Knockainey, John Gourey, Knockainey, & Ann Hurley, Knockainey Seller’s prize EUR20 Pat Moloney.

KNOCKAINEY AFC FESTIVAL: Will take place over the June bank holiday weekend to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the club. Tickets are now on sale for the main attraction, Jimmy Buckley & band on May 31st in the marquee at Bruff RFC. Please call the ticket office to book your tickets on 086 1553449.

OLD PHOTOGRAPHS WANTED: Do you have old photos of Knockainey people, places or events? We are looking to gather as many of these as possible with a view to launching a book at our Village Festival in June. If anyone may be concerned about parting with their treasured mementos, Karl in the Community Office will be able to scan your photos while you wait and so you can bring them home with you straight away. The scanning process poses no risk to the photos. The Community Office is open from Tuesday to Thursday, 9.30am to 2.30pm and please feel free to drop in. KNOCKAINEY LADIES FOOTBALL: will hold their annual medal presentation and registration night on Saturday 13th April at 8pm in Knockainey Community Centre. Registration for u8s is EUR20 and registration for all other players is EUR35. New players registering must bring a copy of their birth certificates. Awards for the most improved u10, u12, u16 and minor player of the year will be presented on the night along with the u14 Walsh/Carroll Perpetual Cup. Refreshments will also be served.
