Tidy Towns: It’s that time of year again when the Tidy Towns committee gets ready for action with regard putting in place a programme to enhance the look of the village and surrounding area for 2013. Last’s years gain of points in the overall context were mainly due to the placing of the large flower boxes in strategic places around the area, these boxes were mainly funded by grants from West Limerick Resources, so this year with a lot of these grants not available anymore, a campaign to look for sponsorship for the hanging baskets from clubs, originations and individuals to help defray costs and with a good response to our annual Church Gate collection later in the year, all will help us continue to carry out more improvements this year. Your support will be greatly appreciated.

G.A.A Games: The under 21 hurlers qualified for the West Final by virtue of a good win over St. Mary’s Rathkeale at Croagh on Saturday evening last and now meet Newcastle West in the final. The best of luck to the minors hurlers who play Deel Rangers in Knockaderry on Friday April12th at 6.30pm. Well done to Limerick footballers who won promotion to Division 3 with a great win over Clare in Ennis at the week-end with local boy captain of the team Seanie Buckley playing a starring role. The hurlers lost to Dublin in an exciting match but Limerick’s strategy of going for goal’s when points were there for the taking was their downfall in my opinion. The ladies Intermediate football team has qualified for the simi-final of the league after their win over Offaly at the weekend.
