BEREAVEMENT: Tommy Ryan who lived in Caherline parish in recent years and a native of Ballinagarde, died unexpectedly last week. He lived in Crossagalla before moving to Caherline. His funeral was to Caherline church and Inch St. Laurence cemetery. Sympathy is extended to his wife Mary and family.

KNOCKEA SCHOOL: Enrolments for are now being accepted for September 2013 and contact can be made on 061 351414. Sixth class recently the Young Scientists Exhibition of the Year at the R.D.S. The event really ignited the children’s interest in science. The pupils and staffin the school had a busy run up to Christmas. All took part in two Masses celebrated by Rev. Oliver Plunkett and the pupils families were invited to partake. They sang Christmas hymns and carols and performed a lovely version of the Nativity to mark the event. At present the school is working hard to attain a second greenflag which recognises the efforts of the children to conserve energy. This flag will complement the first awarded for efforts made in recycling.
