SCOIL POL MASS : The Mass for Scoil Pol was celebrated at St. Andrews Church on Fiday last 25th. January to mark the beginning of the School Year and Commemoration of St. Paul Patron Saint of Scoil Pol, there was full participation of the students and staff at the very well attended ceremony.

SCOIL FHIONAIN SILVER CIRCLE : The Scoil Fhionain Silver Circle will commence on Thursday 7 February and will run for Ten weeks. Your support would be appreciated.

KILFINANE COMMUNITY PLAYSCHOOL ENROLMENT :Kilfinane Community Playschool is currently accepting enrolment for September 2013 for both morning 9am to 12pm and evening 12.15pm to 3.15pm. Kilfinane Community Playschool are participating providers of the new Government’s scheme (ECCE) to provide a free pre-school year for children in the year before they start primary school. The Early Childhood Care & Education Scheme (ECCE) provides one year “free” Pre-school education to every child in Ireland aged between 3 years 2 months and 4 years 6 months on 1st September each year. We are also participating in the Childcare Community Subvention Proramme (CCS) scheme. This programme aims to provide quality childcare services at reduced rates to parents in specific eligibility bands by subventing community childcare services. KILFINANE COMMUNITY PLAYSCHOOL EASTER CAMP : Children of ages between 3-7 years are invited to join us for an exciting new Easter Camp on Monday 25 March to Thursday 28 March 10am to 1 pm. All children will have a very fulfilling day of activities including arts and craft, baking, music, dance, fun & games including outdoor activities (weather permitting) in our specially designed outdoor playground adjoining our state of the art childcare facility. We ask all children to bring a small packed lunch and drink. Cost is : €30 for the week (deposit of €10 to secure place) or€10 per day. Easy pay option available (receipts given on payment) €3 per week for 10 weeks. Payment is accepted between Monday and Friday of each week until Friday 22 March 2013. CANAVOUR PLAYERS OPENS TONIGHT: The Canavour Players Ballinvreena will present ‘Pull the Other One’ a comedy in 2 acts by Norman Robbins in Ballinvreena Community Hall which will open on this Thursday evening 31 January and will continue each night this week to Sunday 3 February, and next week from Wednesday 6 February to Sunday 10 February, The cast includes Noreen Quish, T.J Carr, Willie Carr, Diarmuid McIntyre, Margaret O’Sullivan,Trudy Reardon and Michael O’Reilly, while Sarah Reynolds is the producer and the backroom crew consist of Jim Flynn, Morgan Murphy and John Tobin. The Show commences at 8.30pm each night. Admission is €8 for Adults with complimentary refreshments offered at the interval. Come along and enjoy a wonderful production, a few laughs - in all a perfect evening out.

HILLSIDE PLAYERS THREE MORE SHOWS : Because of the very big demand, The Hillside Players have added three further shows and will continue with their production, Don’t Tell the Wife for a third week on this Thursday 31 to Saturday 2 February, in Ardpatrick Community Centre, curtain up at 8pm each night. . KILFINANE ATHLETIC CLUB : Another Success Kilfinane AC win Frank O’ Mara County Novice 4 Mile Road Championships. Another fantastic day for the club in Rathkeale on Sunday last 27 January with great team and individual performances. Our men’s team added the Novice road title to the novice cross country title won last September and finished Third in the Senior men’s team category. James Gubbins, Adrian Hennessey, Patrick Irwin and Greg Ryan are the latest names to be inscribed on the impressive Frank O’ Mara Cup with Greg Ryan adding his name to the cup for the second time after being part of the winning Kilfinane AC team that won the cup for the first time in 2011. Our women’s team too had an excellent day with Aideen Leahy leading home our 6 female runners to team medals finishing Second in the Novice and Third in the Senior team categories. This was a very strong run by our ladies team, many of whom were competing for the club for the first time an d provides a great platform for our ladies team to build on in the coming months James Gubbins continued the excellent form he showed in 2012 by winning the Individual Novice title and also picking up First Prize in the Over 35 Men’s category. This was a very impressive run by James considering the level of competition in the novice category. North Munster Schools Cross Country : Congratulations to Kilfinane Athletic Club member Edd Valatka on a brilliant silver medal run at the North Munster Schools Cross Country on Thursday last 24 January. Well done to all who competed for the Scoil Pol team and gave a great account of themselves on the day. Edd now continues onto the Munster Championships in the coming weeks.

Club Training :With fewer races down for contention in the coming weeks it is a great chance to get in some quality training in the coming weeks. Training this week takes place on Saturday in Dromin at 9.30am. Key to future Saturday morning sessions will be the progression of the beginners group. Anyone interested in trying out a group training session is very welcome to attend. Other training options which our athletes have been availing of in recent weeks include the Tuesday evening training session from 7-8pm in UL and the training sessions in Galbally community field on Tuesday and Thursdays evenings with Moore Abbey Milers from 7-8pm.
