TAIZE: Limerick Diocese are organising a pilgrimage for adults 18’s plus to Taize from July 4th to 9th. The latter is an ideal meeting place for young adults of different religions to meditate on the faith pray and sing together. Also included in the Pilgrimage is a trip to Paris and Disneyland Paris. ST BRIGID’S: St Brigid’s day this coming Friday the traditional celebrations Rosary by candlelight and prayers will take place at St Brigid’s well in Shanagarry at 8pm and all are welcome.

CEILI: This Friday night the monthly ceili will take place at Halla Tadhg Gaelach in Tournafulla. Music by the Striolan Ceili Band with dancing from 9:30pm to 1am. Light refreshments will also be served.

LOTTERY: St Ita’s Field Development lottery results from January 17th with numbers drawn 10, 13, 17 and 32 and there was no jackpot or match three winner. The four lucky dip winners each receiving €30 were 1. Donal Roche seller Joanne Relihan, 2. Geraldine Mulcahy seller Eddie Carmody 3. Joe Curtin seller The Village Inn, 4.Joseph Casey seller Philomena Casey. The lottery results from January 24th with numbers drawn were 5, 20, 21 and 28 and there was no jackpot winner. The match three winner for €75 was Darragh Lane with seller John Lane. The four lucky €30 dip winners were Peter Cregan seller Peter Cregan, Jason Brouder seller Damien Brouder, Patrick Sheehan seller Willie O’Brien, Mike Collum seller Eddie Carmody. The jackpot is now €3,900 and the draw will take place this Thursday evening at The Village Inn Ashford.

FIRST RESPONSE: Killeedy First Response are looking for your support at their annual monster bingo night with €2,000 in prizes on Wednesday April 3rd at 8pm sharp in the community centre Raheenagh. GAA CLUB AGM: At a well attended club AGM on Sunday the following were elected club officers of Killeedy GAA for 2013: Chairman John Curtin, Secretary Davey Hayes, Treasurer Danny Cremin, Vice Chairman John Cunningham Raheenagh, Assistant Secretary/Registrar Patrick Cremin, Assistant Treasurer DJ Hayes, PRO Michael Begley, Medical Officer Dr Roger Hayes, Irish Officer Ger Barry, County Delegate Mike Cunningham Raheenagh, West Bord Delegates Conor Magner, Eddie Mullane, Intermediate Hurling manager Declan O’Grady.

60TH COMMEMORATION: As it is the 60th anniversary of the starting of the Forestry this year we plan to have a simple commemoration in the mountain where it all began over 60 years ago in Dromdeveen in the parish of Killeedy Co. Limerick. Sheehy’s land was the first place to be bought and next was Langford’s owned then by Jim Mockler. Other lands that were bought were Meelin Commereconnell , Garryduff, Kilmeedy, Granagh, Millen, Newmarket, Dromroe, Mauricetown, Darrira, Gortnaclohy, Toureenmaculiffe, Common’s.

Later in the year we plan to have a special Mass in the mountain to honour and commemorate all those great men some who walked five or six miles to work every morning and home in the evening.

We would ask any relation of anyone who worked in the Forestry to get in touch with us and give the names of anyone they knew who had worked in the Forestry all forests named above. More details later. From January 1953 to January 2013.

W.L. DANCING CLUB: The West Limerick set Dancing club are holding their annual workshop weekend at The Devon Inn Templeglantine. The details to date as follows Friday February 15th music by the Allow Ceili band to commence at 9pm. On Saturday February 16th music by the Striolan Ceili band to commence at 9pm. On Sunday February 17th music by the Taylor’s Cross ceili band commencing at 2pm.

The set dancing workshops take place on Saturday morning with Padraig and Roisin McEneay from 10am to 5pm. Josephine O’Connor will take beginners. Padraig and Roisin resume their workshop on Sunday morning at 11am. Triona Mangan from Killarney will give a Sean nos workshop before the Friday and Saturday night ceili. A great Spring weekend to look forward to.

CHARITY CEILI: The 13th annual charity ceili in aid of Chernobyl Children International organised by Mike and Catherine Kiely Templeglantine will take place at The Devon Inn Hotel, Templeglantine, this Friday at 9:30pm with music by Taylor’s Cross Ceili Band. A great night guaranteed with spot prizes galore, all support appreciated.

CHURCH AFFAIRS: Mass servers for St Ita’s church Ashford to commence their week this Sunday February 3rd is Ben Mulcahy Mauricetown.

The reader for Mass this Saturday evening in Ashford is Patricia McEnery Noonan with Eucharistic Ministers Ita McEnery and Denis Kirby and Basket Collector Maurice McAuliffe.

The reader for Raheenagh Mass this Sunday is Helen Forde with Eucharistic Minister Denis Casey and Patrick Forde and basket Collector Aidan Forde.

DEVOTION:This Friday February 1st is the feast of St Brigid the 1st day of Spring and the first Friday. The Presentation or Candlemas day takes place on Saturday 2nd where candles are blessed for Altar and Home use.

The blessing of the throats on The Feast of St Blaize Sunday February 3rd. A busy weekend in the churches calendar.
