THe organisers of the Newcastle West Agricultural Show have postponed this year’s event due to the poor weather.

The event, which was expected to attract thousands of people, had been due to take place on Sunday week, July 15 at Castlemahon around six miles outside Newcastle West.

The chairman of the organising committee, Peter Leonard, said the condition of the showgrounds and the expected poor weather next week were the reason for the decision.

“It is very disappointing but we are looking to secure and alternative date later in the summer,” he said adding that it is the first time in the history of the show that it will not go ahead as scheduled.
