Sponsor a light on this year’s community Christmas tree in memory of a loved one and receive a lovely keepsake card as a memento. The cost is €5 per light/name. CHRISTMAS CRAFT MARKET: There will be a Christmas Craft Market on December 14 from 3pm. to 8pm at Adare Village Hall. This promises to be a great event with lots of homemade gifts available in time for Christmas. ADARE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS: Santa, Mrs Claus and Helper courtesy, of Serendipity Shoe shop, will officially turn on the Adare Christmas Tree lights on December 7 at 7pm. Light refreshments at the hall plus kiddies disco from 7.30 - 9pm, please come along!

ADARE HERITAGE CENTRE ACTIVITIES: Mrs. Claus will be launching the brand new ‘Walking Tour’ of Adare Village over 3 Festive Sundays the 8, 15 and 22 of December. Mrs. Claus will also be holding her annual toy collection in association with St. Vincent de Paul, and she would love to meet you! Please bring along new (not wrapped) toys for boys and girls between 12 and 3 each Sunday. In conjunction with this promotion, there will be a 20% discount offered on these Sundays throughout the centre and the new Festive Menu will be available in the Dovecote Restaurant. ALZHEIMER CHRISTMAS BAZAAR: The Alzheimer Christmas Bazaar will be held in the Alzheimer Day Care Centre, Adare on Saturday December 7 from 11am to 4pm. On the day we will have Home Baking, Bric a Brac, Clothes and Raffle. All support is greatly appreciated.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS FOR ADARE ALZHEIMERS CENTRE: Tony Noonan’s fabulous Christmas lights in Templeglantine are now on and one of the recipients of this year’s fundraiser will be the Adare Alzheimers Centre. Do visit this wondrous display and make a contribution to charity.

ADARE ACTIVE RETIREMENT: Bowling every Tuesday 3pm to 5pm at Embury Close Hall.

LIVE CRIB: The live crib, traditionally part of Christmas in Adare for the last 16 years, will be held on Sunday December 15 from 2pm to 5pm. We thank all those who make this such a moving and special day in Adare. CHRISTMAS CAROL CONCERT: The Holy Trinity Abbey Choir ‘Christmas Carol Concert’ with mulled wine and mince pies in Adare Manor will be held this Thursday December 5 at 7pm. Tickets €20 each from the Manor or the Parish Office. Proceeds in aid of the Church Restoration Fund.

ADARE & DISTRICT HISTORICAL SOCIETY: Adare & District Historical Society next lecture will take place on Tuesday December 10 at 8pm in the Heritage Centre. This month our speaker is John Meissner from the U.S.A. His subject matter is “The Life and Times of the fourth Earl of Dunraven in Colorado. All are welcome to what promises to be a most interesting night.

ART EXHIBITION BY ADARE ARTIST: Local artist Barry O’Riordan will stage a solo art exhibition in the Adare Heritage Centre Restaurant for the month of December. Working with Roger McCarthy of Gallery 75 it has been exciting developing my painting and my ability to view surroundings with a different frame of mind. In preparing for the exhibition it has been a pleasure to view our local sites with changing colours and I hope viewers enjoy my interpretation of same.

MATCH REPORT – MUNSTER GIRLS PLATE SEMI FINAL: Nenagh AFC 2 Adare Utd 4. On Saturday November 30, Nenagh AFC met Adare Utd for the third time this season. With a previous defeat to Nenagh - after a drawn game in the First Round of the Cup - Adare Utd travelled to Nenagh knowing that they were facing formidable opposition. Under mostly bright skies, the game proved to be a highly entertaining game cheered on by large numbers of supporters on both sides. Adare’s players gave great performances in all positions. With Adare leading 3-1 at half time, Nenagh narrowed the gap to 3-2 during the second half before Adare’s final goal decided the outcome. Adare Utd advance to the Munster Plate Final in UL on the weekend of 14 / 15 December. For the club’s first year competing in this high-level competition, this is a great achievement and one of which the girls and their parents can feel justifiably proud. EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: As and from Wednesday November 6 Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will take place in the Sacristy. Access to the Sacristy after 11am will be from the outside door – use the bell on the door if the door is closed. There is a jam packed programme that includes an art exhibition, Christmas markets, food trail, recitals by the Belfast Chime & Handbell Choir, Living Crib, Family Sunday, falconry display & lots lots more! KNOCKFIERNA RAMBLING HOUSE: Knockfierna Rambling House will hold a special 2nd. Anniversary Remembrance for the late Johnny Donegan on Sunday December 15 at the Desmond Complex, Newcastlewest (behind library) at 7.30pm. This “A night at the Rambling House” is a must for all traditional entertainers.
