Shanagolden Community Council: The Celtic Tenors Christmas Concert for Satureday December 21 in Shanagolden Church is now fully sold out..thanks to everyone who bought tickets..it promises to me a magical night to remember. A very special mention to local man Denis Hayes Deirdre O’Sullivan Hayes of Denny Hayes Carpentry who was busy last Tuesday morning in Shanagolden Church taking measurements before starting to make the platform for the Celtic Tenors Concert...Denny offered his services free of charge and we were delighted to accept.

Sick and Housebound: For all those sick and home bound and who cannot get to mass on Saturday/Sunday, We are hoping to put in place a service where holy communion will be brought to you after mass at the weekends. Anyone interested in receiving holy communion please give your names to any sacristans. This service will not be replacing the first Friday calls, it will be additional call, and you will be getting benefit of receiving the blessed sacrament.

Eucharistic Adoration: Eucharistic Adoration continues in Foynes Chruch (Crying Chapel) every Thursday after the morning Mass until 10pm.

Folk Choir: Folk Choir practice takes place in Shanagolden Chruch on Tuesdays from 7pm to 8pm. New members are welcome. Contact Frances on 0863823056.

St Senans Social Services: Proposed early spring break 2014 is to Yeats Country Hotel Rosses Point Sligo. The rate is €335 per person sharing including 5 nights bed and breakfast and evening meal. Bus to and from Foynes daily tours except going to historic places where there will be a small entrance fee per person. The date is Sunday February 23 to Friday February 28. A saving scheme is now in operation and anyone wishing to participate can do so by contacting Anna at 069 65469.

Coirceal Cainte: Interested in learning Irish in a relaxed informal environment? Then come along to an Irish conversational group that meets every Thursday from 8pm to 9pmin Clearys Bar, Newcastle West. For further information please contact 0877949447.

WEST LIMERICK TIDY TOWNS SHOWCASE: There will be a special showcase and seminar for members the West Limerick Tidy Towns Network and interested members of the wider community on Wednesday December 11th in the Desmond Complex Newcastle West from 7-10pm. Evening will include a number of special guest speakers. Full details to be announced shortly. Communities considering entering the competition in 2014 are also invited to attend. Entrance free. Christmas Recital: Newcastle West Church is the venue for the much-anticipated Annual LIONS Christmas Recital on Thursday December 12 at 8pm. The schedule is now finalised for this grand event which is recognised as one of the high points in West Limerick’s Christmas entertainment calendar. The occasion this year brings together two magnificent artists who are both West Limerick natives. Anne Phelan (Violin), who hails from Castlemahon, is an artist of International renown who has performed with many Orchestras at home and abroad. Brian Hartnett (Tenor) is a Newcastle West native who has numerous awards to his credit and has performed on National TV and Radio on many occasions. Keeping the talent local the Desmond College Choir, with Jean O’Brien (Piano), present a Christmas Tableau. The entire program promises a most amazing evening of seasonal entertainment. Entry is FREE – with a bucket collection for West Limerick Charities – so bring the whole family. Start time is 8pm.

Nolan School Of Dancing: Will hold Irish Dancing classes in Foynes Community Centre on Tuesdays. Beginner Irish Dancing Classes 5pm to 6pm. Improver Classes 6pm to 7pm. Contact Nicola 085 7144494

Shanid Comhaltas: Irish music lessons take place every Thursday evening at 7pmin Shanagolden Hall.
