KILLALOE BALLINA & DISTRICT ANGLERS PRESENTATION NIGHT: On Saturday last Killaloe Ballina & District Anglers held the annual Presentation Night in Molly’s Bar. All present recalled the last time this event was held in Molly’s, (two years ago) when severe weather conditions, - snow and ice - prevented many anglers from attending. No such conditions prevailed on the last day of November 2013 when we had blue skies and sunshine all day! Chairperson, Gerry Horan welcomed all anglers, their families and friends. He thanked all the sponsors of the many competitions throughout the year: the proprietors of the pubs that hosted weekly Presentation of Prizes: management and staff at Molly’s for the delicious food served on Saturday night. The following prizes were presented: Juvenile Angler Award, sponsored by Maurice O’Dwyer, went to Sam Lancaster: Jackie Conroy was “Lady Angler of the Year” and her prize was sponsored by Mary Collins, Celtic Cat: The Jim and Maureen Ryan Trophy for the biggest pike of the year went to Paul Conroy: Ger Mc Keogh won the Kentucky Cup for the biggest trout of the year and was also recipient of “Angler of the Year”, sponsored by Topline Hardware: the joint winners of the “Pat Murphy Trophy” for the heaviest bag of fish were Liam Floyd and Ger Mc Keogh. The ‘Team Event’ was sponsored by Tadhg Kearney and Rita Kelly presented the prizes to the winning team. Pauline and Michael Quigley won the ‘David Conroy Memorial Trophy’: Aileen Mc Keogh and Michael Fitzpatrick were awarded the Stephen D’Arcy Memorial Trophy. This year’s final Club event, - the Charity Competition – was most successful and the main beneficiaries were Killaloe-Ballina Senior Citizens. On Sunday, November 24th, Michael Fitzpatrick presented a cheque to the Senior Citizens committee members during the annual Christmas Party. A donation was also made to Sadie Conroy, organiser/founder of the local Young at Heart club.
