Gathering: All roads lead to Blackwater this Friday for “The Gathering of the friends of Fr. Browne” at Daggers Bar. Tickets for the function are available at a cost of 5 euro each and all will be donated to Milford Hospice where Fr. Browne spent his final weeks. Local musicians will provide the music and finger food will be kindly provided and sponsored by Ray McMahon. On the night also, a DVD will be launched featuring life in the parish in the 60s through the lens of the late Fr. Browne including athletics, track & field events, parish outings, pioneer rallies, the visit of the late President Éamon de Valera to Parteen and a recorded interview with Fr. Browne himself when he was a guest at the Meelick School 50th Anniversary Celebrations four years ago.
Committee Chairman Tony Keogh said, “We have received calls from all over from people who want to be there and the DVD will be launched on the night and available for immediate sale”

East Clare Gaels AGM: East Clare Gaels will hold their AGM next Sunday 8th December at 6pm in Meelick GAA Clubhouse. All are welcome. 


Parteen St. Nicholas: AGM was held on Wednesday last at 8.15 in McMahons function room, Ardnacrusha. A Club Mass was held in Parteen Church at 7.30pm prior to the AGM for all members. Northern Distributor Road: It is hoped that work on the Northern Distributor Road will start in the coming year. Locals are beginning to appreciate the benefits the new road will bring.There will be a dual carriageway from the Coonagh roundabout to the Knockalisheen roundabout where a roundabout will be sited between the entrance to the refugee centre and Bonds corner. The road from Knockalisheen to the Watchhouse Cross will be upgraded to cope with the extra traffic. Knockalisheen will now become must more accessible where heretofore there was considerable difficulty finding local venues. Meelick GAA Club with their new acquisition of extra land will be situated very close to the new roundabout as will Limerick 37 and Parkville Soccer Clubs. It should also speed up commuters to and from Shannon as well as improved traffic flow to and from the City. Parteen St. Nicholas Lotto Draw: Lotto draw took place on Sunday 1st Dec at Flash’ bar for a jackpot of €20,000.
The numbers drawn were :06, 11,14 &16.There was no overall winner. Lucky dip winners were: Niamh Ann English, Bishop Murphy Pk. Parteen, Paul Slattery, Paddocks Westbury, Co. Clare; Niamh Lawlor, C/O Brownes, Co. Clare; Joe O’Connell, Ballycar, Ardnacrusha Co. Clare; Mike McNamara, C/O Musgraves C &C, Limerick; Ellen McGuinness, Clonlara, Co. Clare. Next weeks draw takes place on Sunday 8th December at Browne’s Bar for a jackpot of €20,000.

Bag packing: Parteen GAA Club will be bagpacking on Thursday, December 19. Parteen GAA Club said, “ If you can spare a few hours to help out, we would be very grateful as we need as much help as possible. We will be bagpacking for the full day and anybody over the age of 14 is welcome to help. Please contact Anna Ryan 087 1305181 if you can spare an hour or more.”
