SHARE A DREAM:Congratulations to Billy Kiely who received his National Children of Courage Award at Clontarf Castle Hotel, Dublin, on Saturday night. Billy, who suffers from Hunters Syndrome, was one of eight courageous children from all over Ireland who received awards on the night. The awards ceremony was hosted by Ray D’Arcy and Noel Cunningham. As part of the awards programme, Billy and his family will enjoy a trip to Disneyland, Paris. Billy attends Bruree National School.
CHRISTMAS FAIR IN BRUREE: The Community Hall in Bruree is holding its first Christmas Fair on this Sunday, December 8th, from 12.00 noon to 4.00 pm. This is a “table-top” event for people to sell their cakes, jams, cards, knitting, bric-a-brac, vegetables etc. There are plenty of talented people in our community, so give it a go and get crafting! There will be a small charge per table). It will be a family event with art competitions, fun games and music for the children and tea and buns for the grown-ups. Christmas merchandise and gifts, handcrafted Christmas decorations, wreaths, aloe vera, cakes, shop, tea/coffee, and much, much more will be available. Additionally, we are having a remembrance Christmas tree which will be decorated with Christmas cards in memory of loved ones. The cards will be available on the day for you to write your own personal message and they will then be hung on the tree. All donations from the remembrance tree will go to charity. Santa will make an appearance and family photos can be taken with him. Santa’s grotto will be open from 12.00 noon to 3.00 pm and the cost will be €5 each for first and second child, €12 for family. A photographer will be on hand to take Santa photos. It promises to be a great day so come and join the fun! Admission is free. PHOTOS: The photos collected for the Gathering weekend are now available to view in the De Valera Museum and De Valera Heritage Centre. The centre is open Monday to Thursday 9.00 to 5.00 and Friday 9.00 to 4.30 pm.

RAMBLING HOUSE: The next traditional Irish Rambling House will be held in Bruree Community Hall on this Friday, December 6th. Visiting and local entertainers will provide music song and dance to entertain and there will be the usual cup of tea and sandwiches and confectionery. Admission is just €5 and there will be a raffle on the night. Everyone is welcome to our Christmas Rambling House.
BADMINTON: Bruree played their first match of the year in the grade 4 league this week. The team travelled to O’Brien’s Bridge in Clare and won 5-2. Well done to all - the team was Dan Deady, Mike McCarthy, Frank Finn, Elaine O’Dwyer, Margaret Deady, Eileen McMahon and Catherine Forde.
The next match was against Effin in Bruree and, after a good display in Clare, the team was keen to keep the momentum going and that they did, winning on a scoreline of 4-3. Again well done to all the team, which was Dan Deady, Mike McCarthy, Frank Finn, Eileen O’Shea, Eileen McMahon, Margaret Deady and Elaine O’Dwyer. A big thanks to all the supporters who turned up in big numbers to cheer on the team.
COMMUNITY GAMES: The AGM of Bruree/Rockhill Community Games will be held this Thursday night, December 5th, at 8.00 pm in the school hall. All are welcome and parents are particularly welcome.
