UPCOMING EVENTS: It is certainly a busy social calendar for the first few weeks of December in the parish, with the Comhaltas/School Concert, Car boot sale, Senior Citizens Party and the Christmas Party Night dinner and dance.
COMHALTAS CONCERT: The annual Comhaltas concert will take place in Halla Tadhg Gaelach on Friday night, December 6, at 8 pm. On the stage you will see the amazing young talent we have in the parish. There will be music, song, dance and drama. This concert also incorporates the school concert with all the school children performing. A night not to be missed!
CAR BOOT SALE: A fundraising Car Boot Sale will be held in the Community Centre, Mountcollins on Sunday, December 8, from 12 noon until 3 pm. Please come along and support the fundraiser and get all your Christmas bargains. Stall holders welcome at €5 per stall. For further information contact Mary Lyons, Marian Leahy or Joanie Audsley.
SENIOR CITIZENS PARTY: The annual Senior Citizens Party will take place in Hall Tadhg Gaelach on Sunday next, December 8, beginning with mass at 2 pm. After mass there will be tea and refreshments and perhaps something stronger, followed by music, song and dance. There is a free raffle with many seasonal prizes. We issue an open invitation to all senior citizens in the parish to come along and enjoy the day.
CHRISTMAS PARTY NIGHT: The Christmas Party dinner and dance will take place on Friday, December 13, beginning with a four-course hot meal at 8.30 pm. You can then mingle with friends and dance the night away to the music of the Michael Collins Band.
DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION: There will be a meeting of the Development Association in Hall Tadhg Gaelach on this Thursday night at 7.30 pm. All members are asked to attend.
TIDY TOWNS: At the AGM of Tournafulla Tidy Towns Committee the following officers were elected: President – Fr. O’Gorman, Chairperson – Liam Ó Loineacháin, Vice – Chair – James Wright, Secretary – Jennie McDonald and Treasurer – Timmy Horgan. With the village set in the valley of the meandering Allaghaun and surrounded by six hills we have tremendous potential for improvement to our environment, with the support of the people of the parish.
MILFORD HOSPICE: The family of the late Peg D O’Connor- Eileen, Joan, Mary and Danny Boy, would like to thank most sincerely all who supported their recent coffee night fundraiser for Milfrord Hospice. The amount raised was €2,468.
DEATH: We offer our sincere sympathy to Mrs. Teresa Harnett of Farran on the death of her mother Mrs. Lil Walsh of Brosna. For the past six years Teresa and her husband Sean have taken great care of Mrs. Walsh, who was a real lady. Ar dheis lámh Dé go raibh a h-anam dhílis.
GLENGURT NS PARENTS ASSOCIATION: Glengurt NS Parents Association committee express their thanks to all the parents, grandparents and friends of Tournafulla National School for donating their baked goods, time and hard earned cash in support of our bake sale at the Christmas Market in the Halla on Sunday. We really appreciate the response from everyone in getting behind the day. It was a great collective effort and raised over €600 for the Parents Association fund for the school.
