Knocknagoshel Dec 7

Big loss to community: Knocknagoshel parish lost its most senior citizen last in the person of Shelia Carmody nee Brosnan , of Ballyduff and late of Dromada. Her remains were removed from Dave Leahy’s Funeral Parlour to St Mary’s Church and burial was in the new cemetery Knocknagoshel. Shelia was only a few months away from her one hundredth birthday, and up to sometime recently enjoyed the best of health. Sincere sympathy is extended to all Shelia’s relatives and friends.

SPECIAL INTEREST: Knocknagoshel folk had more than a passing interest in the north Kerry senior football championship this year. In the quarterfinal against Listowel a number of goal chances presented themselves to the Mall which could at least have seen the locals secure a draw. On Sunday last our near neighbours Brosna were well worth a draw at least against the same opposition in the semi-final. Former Knocknagoshel player Denis Walsh was the Listowel captain and one of his team- mates Shane Quinn happens to be a grand nephew of the late Owen Breen , of Knocknagoshel.
