SYMPATHY: We offer our sympathy to Claire McEnnis, Grianán, on the recent death of her mother Mary who died peacefully at Milford Care Centre. Beloved wife of Jarleth and dearest mother to Ita, Caroline, Colette, Michael, Eithne and Clare. Deeply regretted by her brothers Paddy, Kevin and Flan, sisters Claire and Carrie, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great grandson, relatives and her many friends. Mary was laid to rest on Sunday last in Kilmurry cemetery following requiem Mass. To Brian Costelloe and family, Oakton Road on the death of his sister Geraldine in Clonard. Funeral took place in Clonlara. May she rest in peace.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION CHILDREN AND PARENTS: This Monday and Tuesday September 30 and October 1 we look forward to a good start with meetings for the parents who wish to have their child celebrate First Penance and first Holy communion this school year. The enrolment ceremony for these children will be on Monday October 7at 7.30p.m. in St. Nicholas’ Church.

GATHERING MASS: This Sunday we welcome all the people from the Mill Road and Irish Estates to the 12.00noon Holy Mass in St. Munchin’s College. Refreshments and time to meet and chat will follow this.

MEDITATION: Quiet meditation on Tuesday mornings in 3 Oakton Road, Salesia house. Time: 10.30 am to 11

PARISH VISITATION: This is currently taking place in Carraig Midhe and parts of Westbury and Athlunkard not visited in April.

MILFORD CHARITY SHOP: Milford Care Centre have opened a Charity Shop at 22 Thomas Street. They are looking for women’s, men’s and children’s clothes, shoes, accessories, handbags and unwanted gifts, bric-a-brac etc. Contct Aeilish on 0868366846 from 9.30 – 5p.m. Monday to Saturday.

IRISH DANCING: Irish dance lessons by Sharon O Brien - Classes started mid September on a Thursday in Parteen school at 3pm and Scoil Ide at 5pm. All ages welcome, learn to Irish Dance for fun and fitness. Call 086 8511460 or sharonobrien74@gmail.com for further details.

TUESDAY SOCIAL CLUB: The Alzheimer Society of Ireland hold a Social Club for people with dementia and their carer, in a supported environment, which takes place each Tuesday morning in the Woodfield House Hotel, between 11a,. and 1pm There is no charge to attend and tea and coffee are provided. Please phone Mary at 313456 if you would like to attend, or just call to Woodfield House Hotel on Tuesdays from 11am.

ADORATION: 24 hour adoration of the Blessed Sacrament St. Nicholas’ Church every week from Thursday 7.30p.m. t6o Friday 7.30p.m

VOLUNTEERING WITH VIDES Ireland: If any person between 20 and 40 years of age would like to experience life on the Missions for at least six weeks during 2014 please contact Sr. Dympna (061 348510) who co-ordinates VIDES Ireland—an NGO developed by the Salesian Sisters to offer young people an opportunity to experience life in a Third World country. A mission in Assam, India would love Volunteers from February onwards.

NEWS IN BRIEF: Parteen under 16’s bow out of the Shield. Yes sad to report that the 16s were beaten last Sunday. O’Callaghan Mills proved to be stronger on the day.

Intermediates overcame Crusheen. Parteen Intermediates moved a step closer in the Championship by beating Crusheen in Tulla last Sunday evening. Parteen played well throughout but were guilty of taking their foot off the gas and letting Crusheen in for a goal towards the end of the game. Well done to all involved.

This Saturday is the Replay of the All Ireland Clare V Cork and all roads lead to Croke Park. Come on The Banner/ Good luck to the Clare senior team.
