Junior B Hurlers: Ballygiblin Junior B (2) hurlers reached their first ever North Cork final when they defeated Churchtown on Saturday last in Shanballymore. Over the hour Ballygiblin held a decisive lead all through but goals at vital stages late in the first half and in the closing moments of the second half put a respectable look on the scoreboard at the final whistle 0-19 to 3-6. Ballygiblin will now meet Milford in the final on Sunday October 5 in Castletownroche. Ballygiblin Under 21 B hurlers who drew with Clyda Rovers 0 -21 to 2-15 in the Under 21 B HC semi final last week will now meet their opponents in the replay at Kildorrery on Monday night next September 30 with a 7.30pm start. The Under 16 A hurlers were also in action on Saturday last when they played Banteer in the Rebel Og Northern Region final at Ballyhooly. Three goals for Banteer in the opening 10 minutes put Ballygiblin under pressure for the rest of the hour. At half time Banteer led 3- 5 to 0- 6. In the second half the Duhallow side emerged winners maintained their dominance and emerged winners in the end by 4 – 9 to 1-10. The late Luke Hammond: The death occurred unexpectedly on September 17 of Luke Hammond, The Green, Stagpark. The late Luke was very popular locally. There was a large attendance at the funeral at O’Brien’s Funeral Home on Thursday evening. Remains were cremated on Saturday. To his mother Ellen, brothers Liam and Lewis, grandad Arthur uncles Danny and Billy, extended family, relatives neighbours and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.

The late Susan Burke: The death occurred suddenly on September 19 at her residence 24 Captain Keane’s Grove of Susan Burke (Nee Ryan) The late Susan was very well known locally being in her mid 50s. She suffered from a sight problem with a number of years. She was very well cared for by her husband Eddie and many others.

There was a very large and represented attendance at the removal from the family home on Saturday and also at the Requiem Mass an burial on Sunday. To her husband Eddie, sisters Ann, Teresa, & Jacqueline, brother Michael aunt, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives neighbours and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.

Knockadea Lotto: The numbers drawn were 15, 16 & 19.
