Dancing Classes: Dancing classes continue every Monday night in the hall in Ballyhahill from 9.00 p.m. until 11.00 p.m. This is always a great night where people get an opportunity to learn Ballroom dancing, the waltz, quickstep, foxtrot and many more steps. SERVICE OF HOPE AND COMMEMORATION: A Service of Commemoration and Hope will take place on Thursday 3rd of October at 7pm in the Augustinian Church in O’Connell Street in Limerick. The theme for this year’s service is Building Bridges and there will be an opportunity on the night for people to include personal messages and participate in the event.
Trip to Swiss Cottage: Knockfierna Heritage Society will hold their annual outing to Cahir Castle, The Swiss Cottage, Rock of Cashel, and Holy Cross Abbey this Sunday September 29. Previous outings have proved to be most enjoyable occasions. Mr. Philip Lynch of Kilkenny will be tour guide for the day. TIDY TOWNS: The next West Limerick Tidy Towns Network training event will be the Litter Monitoring and Management module that will be held in Newcastle West on Sunday September 29th. The training event details are as follows: Sunday September 29 from 11am at the Desmond Complex Newcastle West. We will look at Site Selection Census and Surveys, Survey Methods, Litter Grades, Cleanliness Ratings, Report Writing.
Oral History Initiative: West Limerick Resources will be running an Oral History Training Initiative this autumn. Training will consist of two elements. Participants will develop Oral History Interviewing techniques as well as examine the legal and ethical issues relevant to gathering Oral History. The second element of the training will focus on digital voice recording and editing techniques. Training will also explore how oral history can contribute to the local heritage of communities and identify suitable ways of showcasing their research. Training is expected to begin in October and to run one evening per week for 10 weeks. The course is free of charge and open to people living in the West Limerick area.
