James was one of the instigators of the Mulcair Drainage Scheme which after many years of campaigning eventually succeeded in having the river drained and brought great relief to the farming community around and in particular great relief to the village of Cappamore which no longer has to suffer when the wet season arrives. Bridge St is now free of any flooding. James is survived by his wife, Joan and his son , daughters grandchildren and sister, Nora.

Christy O’Brien: Cappamore lost one of its great characters with the demise of Christy O’Brien, who died recently at a young age. He was in his early 60’s.. He didn’t get the best of health in recent years, but it did not diminish his great enthusiasm for Cappamore hurling. He was Chairman of Cappamore GAA club for a number of years and was a successful manager at under-age level. He always had a great rapport with the minor and U 21 age groups and they held him in very high esteem. Christy was also an integral part of Cappamore Show and acted as one of main stewards in Show jumping arena for many years. RIP

Birthday Wishes: Congratulations to Willie Birrane, Turagh who celebrated his 93rd birthday on Wednesday 25 September.
