Parish Leadership Course: St Patrick’s College, Thurles, has announced a new course for priests and their parishioners. The course will address issues such as handing on the faith, leadership in the parish, the parish of the future and involving young adults in the church and parish. It is part of an initiative to train potential leaders for future situations where there may be no resident priest in a parish.

Local sessions are being held in the Millennium Centre, Caherconlish, over five consecutive Thursday nights (Oct 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st). Sessions will run between 7.30pm – 9.15pm and are followed by refreshments. Information is on the church notice board.

A group of 6 – 8 people are needed to attend the course with the parish priest. Please give your name to Canon McNamara if you are interested in attending, and you feel you have the leadership qualities and commitment needed for this important work.

Knock Pilgrimage: This takes place from the parish on Sunday, 29 September. Bus is free. Donation of €25 for two meals (breakfast on the way to Knock, and evening meal on the return journey). There are still a few seats left, Please get in touch with Mona as soon as you can if you intend going on the pilgrimage.

Adare to Survive with Cliona’s Foundation: Adare to Survive is a 7.5km military style obstacle course taking place in Clonshire Equestrian Centre, Adare, Co Limerick on Sunday 29 September. Cliona’s Foundation which provides financial assistance to the families of critically ill children is the charity partner and participants are invited to Endeavour/Endure/Enjoy a unique physical and mental challenge, individually or part of a 4 person team, to raise funds for a charity or club of their choice. Community Radio: East Limerick Community Radio is holding a fundraiser draw with €2,000 in prizes including a first prize of €1,000. Tickets are €5 each and will be on sale throughout East Limerick in the coming weeks and are also available from all station presenters and volunteers. Health Care Training Programme for Women: The aim of the initiative is to buld up skills of women and provide them with a recognised FETAC Level 5 qualification in Health Care that will cover two modules of learning: Care Skills, Occupational First Aid, One to One Career Planning, Profile Analysis, Wellness and Recovery Action Planning.
