BAKE SALE: The Children’s Ward in Limerick Regional Hospital will benefit from a Bake Sale which takes place in Halla Inse Bhán on Saturday evening next after 6pm mass and on Sunday morning after 10.30am mass. It is a very worthy cause and support would be appreciated. Parishioners and others are invited to come along and have a chat over a cup of tea and sample the mouth-watering home baking and all in aid of a very worthy cause. The children will be glad to hear that Mickie and Minnie Mouse will also be present. On Sunday there will be a raffle for selection of locally donated spot prizes. HARVEST FESTIVAL: Many from the locality visited Listowel last week for the annual Harvest Festival of Racing. The N21 road was busy each day with traffic for the races and on each evening the local Devon Inn Hotel was rather busy catering for those on their way home. Dreoilín Inse Bhán wren group travelled in strength to Listowel on Friday night for the annual wren competition. It was a wonderful occasion, large crowds, beautiful weather and a festive atmosphere. The group performed very well and enjoyed themselves and will be presenting the proceeds to Halla Inse Bhán refurbishment fund. Míle buíochas to all the musicians, singers, dancers and all others who helped out in any way on the night.

CÚRSAÍ EAGLAISE: Daily mass in the local church will be at the usual times this week. The morning mass on Saturday has been discontinued. The Saturday evening mass takes place at 6.00pm and on Sunday morning at 10.30pm. The anniversary masses for Dan O’Donnell and Leisha Uí Mhaolcatha took place on last weekend. The anniversary mass for members of the McAuliffe family of Meenoline North, Michael, Ellen, Larry and Con will be celebrated on Friday evening, 6.30pm. Beannacht Dé ar anamacha na marbh.

SCOLÁIRÍ NUA: Deichniúr daoine óga a thosnaigh i rang na naíonán sa Scoil Náisiúnta áitiúil i mbliana. Seo leannas na buachaillí agus cailíní, CJ Ward, Declan Kelly, Donnacha Larkin, Garvan Lyons, Jodi Clarke Murphy, Josh Keane, Katie Sexton, Lorcan Bolger, Sarah Curtin, Sarah O Sullivan. COMHALTAS: The weekly music and dancing classes are now up and running and are well attended. Many members of the Comhaltas craobh were involved in the local Dreoilín Inse Bhán which participated in the Wren group competition in Listowel on Friday night last. Congratulations to branch members who received their Junior Cert results recently. It is now time for membership renewal with the start of the new Comhaltas year in September. The branch AGM is only a few weeks away. Champion traditional singer Eileen Broderick has been selected for the Comhaltas Concert Tour of Ireland which begins on October 13 and visits a total of 14 venues over a two week period. Ennis is our nearest venue this year.

MACRA NA FEIRME: Young people of the locality, male and female are invited to join Macra na Feirme this Autumn. Macra is holding an information night at Halla Inse Bhán on Thursday, October 3rd at 8.30pm and young people between the ages of 17 and 35 are invited to come along and find out more about the organisation and its activities.

NIGHT CLASSES: Listowel Community College will be enrolling for its Autumn programme of night classes on the 30th September & October 1st between 7.30-9.00pm. The full list of courses can be obtained and enrolling carried out now at www.listowelcc.ie or www.kerryetb.ie. Classes will commence on Octovber 7th. SEMINAR: A seminar titled “OUR YOUTH MATTER” will take place at the Devon Inn Hotel on Tuesday, October 8, tosnú 7.00pm and all interested are welcome to attend. The event is being organised by Abbeyfeale and District Initative in conjunction with Limerick Social Service Council and as well as a number of eminent speakers there will be an imput on the night from transition year students of Colaiste Íde agus Iosef.
