Gala WeekEnd: Arrangements are being made by Meanus Social Club for the Gala Week-End which they are holding on 28th, 29th and 30th June. Events will include a Family Quiz on the Friday night, a fun Walk/Run on Saturday morning, a musical evening on Saturday night. A sports day will be held in the Sportsfield on Sunday preceded by a fancy dress parade. A duck race will be held on the river on Sunday evening and the weekend activities will finish with a gala card game on Sunday night. As this is the year of the Gathering the committee felt it should be marked in some way so a fine weekend is hoped for when everybody can come out and celebrate with their family and friends.

Dog Night: All roads lead to Limerick Greyhound Race Track on this Saturday night, 11th May, for the eagerly awaited “Night at the Dogs” which has been organised by Bruff Community Playground Committee. No stone is left unturned to make the night an enjoyable and successful event. The programme commences with the first race at 7.45 p.m. Highlights of the night will include the auction of a sapling Greyhound Pup which has been donated by renowned Kilkenny Greyhound trainer, Paul Hennessy, a Best Dressed Lady’s competition and a super raffle with a first prize of a 15 month Angus heifer. A great family night’s entertainment is assured and support would be gratefully appreciated. Admission is €10 with children under 16 free.

Concert in Church of IrelanD: Berea Bluegrass/Gospel College Band will perform in the Church of Ireland, Bruff on Tuesday 21st May from 8p.m. The Berea Band features Ashley Long, vocalist. This is a performance not to be missed. Tickets are 10 euro and can be purchased from any member of Bruff, Grange Meanus Community Council members in advance or at the door, but as places are limited it might be best to get your ticket in advance.

GAA: Congratulations to Bruff U 21 Hurlers who won the County Final recently when they defeated Monaleen. The game was played at Croagh the final score being 1-13 to 0-6. After the game Pat Heffernan, vice chairman Limerick County Board presented the cup to winning captain Antony Punch who hails from Meanus. Other Meanus lads on the panel were Antony Nealon, Mark Doran, Peadar McCarthy, Kevin Bulfin, Michael O Donnell, Mark Cronin and Thomas O Donnell. The manager was Brien Finn with selectors Danny Moloney, James Dempsey and Medical/Kitman Paddy Mulcahy. Well done to all concerned.
