UPCOMING CHURCH-GATE COLLECTION: Sr. Consilio Fitzgerald of Cuan Mhuire, Bruree House will be holding her annual Church-Gate collection in Patrickswell and Ballybrown next weekend. IRELANDS MISSING PERSONS: Irelands missing persons will be remembered on Sunday, May 12 at 2pm at Knockfierna near Adare, Co. Limerick. The day’s events are hosted by Knockfierna Heritage Society and guest speakers will include Mary Phelan, Co. Killkenny the sister of 21 year old JoJo Dollard missing since November 9, 1995 and Bob Shanahan, Limerick City whose son Gus is missing since February 11, 2000 also guest speaker on the day is Mark Patrick Hedderman, Abbot of Glenstal Abbey, Co. Limerick. The names of other missing people will be recalled. LIMERICK WEST GIY: Limerick West GIY with the aim of inspiring people to grow their own food will hold its May meeting on Thursday, May 16 @ 7.00pm sharp in D&M Garden Centre, Croagh with new growers and old hands all welcome. This months talk will be all about foods that may benefit your health (Let food be your Farmacy). We will also continue our seed / plant swaps so please bring any unwanted seeds or excess plants and who knows you might just pick up that seed / plant you have been looking for. There is no need to bring anything if you don’t have spares and you can still take what you see during the swap. For June, July and August we will be on the road visiting gardens at our usual meeting time. More details at next meeting and in local press over the coming weeks. LIMERICK STUDENTS WIN COMPANY OF THE YEAR COMPETITION 2013: Salesian Secondary College, Pallaskenry, Co. Limerick with F.A.R.M, was announced winner of the Junior Achievement Company of the Year 2013. The team Aaron Coughlan, Ardlahan, Kildimo, Patrick Byrnes, Moig West, Pallaskenry and Patrick O’Shaughnessy, Ballynolan, Kildimo will represent Ireland, competing against 32 European teams at the JA Company of the Year Competition in London in July. With almost 2500 Transition Year students countrywide taking part in Junior Achievement’s Company Programme, this year’s winners proved astute entrepreneurs. The National Award Winners now go on to represent Ireland at the European Final in London in July and have a hard act to follow as last year’s winners from Salesian College Pallaskenry, developed an app to translate between spoken and Irish Sign Language, went on to win the European competition, featured on the Late Late Show and will be our guests at the final this year.
