THE GATHERING: The Bruff Gathering will take place from 1st to 7th July 2013. Full details of the itinery have yet to be worked out but it will coincide with the Summer Festival and include the Bruff Rose Contest, Heritage Projects, Guided Walks, a genealogy workshop etc. We have invited over 1000 people with ancestral connections to visit Bruff for the occasion. You may know other people abroad who have not been included and who would appreciate an invitation. Please feel free to contact them yourselves or alternatively provide the Community Office 061 389841 with their details preferably with an email address and an invite will be sent. Preparations for The Gathering will require a concerted effort from a lot of people and volunteers are asked to contact the Community Office to offer their assistance.

SCOIL DEAN CUSSEN: Enrolement forms for new pupils starting in September 2013 are now available in the school office. We look forward to welcoming your child to our school community.

BRUFF HERITAGE GROUP – THE GATHERING: As part of “The Gathering” Celebrations in Bruff (July 1st- 7th) an exhibition of correspondence over the years will take place. Bruff Heritage Group are trawling all avenues in search of letters, postcards ,Christmas cards telegrams etc. which would have been exchanged between the people of Bruff (and South Limerick generally) and other places near and far.Have you a letter or postcard which was sent or received, giving the news from home or away, be it large or trivial (we are particularly interested in trivia!), down the years?

We would love to hear from you and be assured that all items will be treated with the utmost care and respect. We will exhibit all letters in their entirety or part, depending on the wishes of the donor. Emails or enquiries can be made to tombulfin1@yahoo.ie mobile number: (00353863143772). We feel this is a novel and relevant way to celebrate “ The Gathering” but it’s success depends on the response we receive so please get searching in those old boxes and cases!

CHRISM MASS: His Excellency, Archbishop Charles Brown, Papal Nuncio, will celebrate Chrism Mass in the Diocese on Wednesday, 27th March at 7.30pm in St. John’s Cathedral. Please follow the usual procedure regarding the allocation of Holy Oils for your Parish.

ORDINATION OF BISHOP-ELECT BRENDAN LEAHY: On Sunday, 14th April, 2013 at 3.00pm, Rev. Brendan Leahy will be ordained Bishop of Limerick in St. John’s Cathedral. Further details in relation to the ordination, seating allocation, liturgy, etc., will be finalised in the next few weeks and will be forwarded to you well in advance of the occasion.

BRUFF GAA MEMBERSHIP: This time of year sees renewal of club membership. Membership of the club remains the same as last year at €30 with student and OAPs at €10. New members are always very welcome to join the club. Closing date is March 31st. Thank you for your support.

THE WITNESS/ A MUSICAL: The Witness: A musical by Carol & Jimmy Owens. The Witness is the story of Jesus, told and sung by Peter and the other men and women who knew the Master best. Featuring a great cast and coordinated by Fr. Terry Loughran. “The Witness” a musical, will be presented by the Diocese of Limerick, in the Lime Tree Theatre, Mary Immaculate College, on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th March at 8pm. This production which is being staged just before Easter is an ideal opportunity for parishes, youth groups, as well as individuals to participate in a meaningful and relevant way in the Year of Faith and to enter into the spirit of the season of preparation for the events of Holy Week. JOEY HANNAN MEMORIAL RUN/ FUN WALK: Joey Hannan Memorial Run / Fun Walk: St. Patrick’s Day 17th March 2013, Croom Co. Limerick. It is that time of year again and we the committee have being working behind the scenes organising a great day’s events in memory of Joey. The Walk will start at 1:15 pm while the runners get off at 2 pm. After the walk/race prize giving will take place between 3:30 and 4 pm. Teas and sandwiches will be provided for all. On St. Patrick’s night there will be an ‘Irish Night’ also in Colaiste Chiarain Croom and all are welcome to attend where we will have traditional entertainment, €5 admission.

SUMMER ENGLISH SCHOOL 2013: Some Spanish and Italian teenagers will be coming to this area from late June to mid July to learn English. We are looking for families in Bruff and surrounding areas to host them; attractive rates will be paid to suitable families. If you would be interested in having some students stay with you as part of your family for two or three weeks, please contact 087 8289959 for more details.

GRANGE RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION: Grange Residents Association are holding a funding raising night in The Stroller Ballyneety on Saturday 2nd March at 9:00pm. There will be music, finger food, dancing and a raffle on the night. Tickets are available from any committee member or they can be purchased at the door for €5. All proceeds are in aid of Grange old School renovation. A great night is assured, please support this worthy cause.

EMLY VARIETY PLAYERS: Emly Variety Players present John Murphy’s Three Act Play “The Country Boy” on Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd March and also on Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th March in Halla Naoimh Ailbhe, Emly, at 8.15pm.

HEALING MASS: Will be celebrated in Knockainey Church on Monday March 4th at 7.30pm by Rev. Fr. John Walsh. Water and Salt will be blessed at this Mass and also individual Eucharistic Blessing. All are welcome.

AFTERNOON TEA DANCE: in Knockainey Community Centre on Sunday March 10th at 3pm. Music by Liam O’Sullivan. Dancing from 3pm to 6pm. Admission €5. Tea and homemade scones will be served. Come along and enjoy a great evening’s entertainment.

THE CIRCUS IS COMING TO BRUFF: For the first time in a number of years the Circus comes to Bruff!! Next week Circus Gerbola will be in the G.A.A. Sportsfield on Wed. March 6th (7.30pm) and Thurs. March 7th (4.30pm and 7.30pm) .The promise is for a feast of fun and it is to be hoped that one of the oldest forms of entertainment will be supported by young and old alike.

LIMERICK CHORAL FESTIVAL: Limerick Choral Festival in association with RTÉ Lyric fm presents ‘Anúna in Concert’ at St. Joseph’s Church, O’Connell Avenue on Friday, March 1st at 8pm. Tickets €15 available from Euro Empire, O’Connell St., and St. Joseph’s Church. Concessions at the door subject to availability.

LIMERICK CHORAL FESTIVAL:Limerick Choral Festival is facilitating a fun workshop for Church choirs and cantors with Patrick Killeen, this year’s composer-in-residence, on Sunday March 3rd in St. Joseph’s Church, commencing at 1:45pm.
