EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: There will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in Patrickswell Church on Saturdays from 8am until 12noon, and in Ballybrown on Wednesday from 6 to 8pm.
ANNIVERSARY MASS: All friends and neighbours are invited to join the family of Rosie Long, late of Ballyluskey, for her First Anniversary Mass, which will take place at Manister Church, this Sunday, March 3, at 11-30am.
COLLECTIONS: Many thanks from the organisers of the recent church gate collections, which were in aid of St.Vincents, Lisnagry, the previous weekend, Milford Hospice last weekend, and will be for Patrickswell Senior Citizens Social this weekend, March 2-3. Your continuous generosity is genuinely acknowledged.
BLOOD DONORS: The Irish Blood Transfusion Service requires three thousand donations every week, and clinics will be held at the following locations next week to facilitate that ongoing requirement: Scoil Ide, Corbally, on Monday March 4 from 6 to 9pm, and Kilmurry Lodge Hotel, Castletroy, on Tuesday March 5 from 5 to 8pm. You can visit any blood donor clinic as long as ninety days have elapsed since you last gave blood, and you are urged to please give regularly. FRIDAY CLUB: You are invited to the Resource House on Friday for another Lenten Lunch which members will be hosting from 1-30pm onwards. The lunch will consist simply of homemade soup and bread, and a cup of tea or coffee. There is no set charge, but there will be an opportunity to make a voluntary donation. Members would be grateful for your support.
ACTIVE RETIREMENT: Would members please note that the monthly meeting takes place this Thursday, February 28, and will commence at the earlier time of 6-30pm. The business meeting will then be followed by a presentation on Aloe Vera products. Our VEC gardening class, which proved very popular in the last quarter, will recommence this Friday, March 1, at 10-30am in the GAA clubhouse, and the fitness and exercise sessions restart next Monday, March 4, also at 10-30am.
CREDIT UNION: According to recent Irish research, only one in three Irish adults has made a will. To highlight to its members the importance of making a will, MPCC Credit Union will be offering a consultation service on Friday, March 8 in the Credit Union’s Dooradoyle office and all members are invited to attend. This consultation, which is completely free, will assist members in planning and managing their financial affairs, but there will be no obligation to make a will.
GOLF SOCIETY: Another Golfing season is about to get underway for 2013, and with that in mind we held our A.G.M. in the Cu Chullain bar recently. This is a special year for our society as we are celebrating 21 years since our foundation. We have a number of events planned to celebrate this milestone throughout the year.

Congratulations and the best of luck to David Ryan who was elected Captain of the Junior Section in Adare Manor Golf Club for 2013. Our first outing will take place in Lahinch Golf Club (Castle Course), next Saturday March 9. Membership fees can now be paid to any of the above committee. The best of luck to all who take part in the outings for 2013, we hope that you enjoy your golf with us, and new members are welcome.
RAMBLING HOUSE: The very popular Knockfierna Rambling House will hold a special night of storytelling, music, and singing at Kilfinny Community Hall this Friday March 1 at 8pm. There is no admission fee. All are welcome.
DAFFODIL DAY: Following on from last year’s 25th birthday of Daffodil Day, this year the Irish Cancer Society is celebrating its 50th anniversary of bringing care and support to the 30,000 people who are diagnosed with cancer each year in Ireland. Daffodil Day 2013 takes place on Friday, March 22, and the society needs volunteers to assist on the day in any way they can, to enable its mission to continue. Companies can also register their support, and organise fundraising. Silk daffodils and fresh blooms will again be for sale together with other merchandise, at numerous locations throughout the city and county, and more information is available from the society on 1850 60 60 60 or email@example.com.
JOEY HANNAN MEMORIAL: A great day’s events are planned for the Joey Hannan Memorial which takes place in Croom on St.Patrick’s Day. The walk will start at 1-15 pm, while the runners get off at 2 pm. Prize giving will take place between 3:30 and 4 pm, and teas and sandwiches will be provided for all. On St. Patrick’s night there will be an “Irish Night” also in Colaiste Chiarain Croom and all are welcome to attend where we will have traditional entertainment, €5 admission.
