COMMUNITY ALERT: There was a very good turnout at the Community Alert meeting on Tuesday night Feb 19th. A good debate took place on the proposed setting up of a text alert system for the Galbally district. It was agreed to have another meeting in the near future when more information is available. Mr. Ned Moloney will attend the next meeting to explain how Knocklong set up and run their alert system. It was agreed to seek a permit to hold a church gate collection to cover costs of signs etc. It was great to have garda Natasha Walsh and garda Aiden Larkin in attendance at the meeting and they are so welcome as both are now living in the garda barrack and are part of our Community. Garda Natasha Walsh confirmed that she has been appointed as liason officer to our community alert group and she stated that both gardai will play a part in helping to keep our area as crime free as possible.
