CASTLECONNELL HISTORICAL SOCIETY: The Society will host a Spring Historical Tour, on this Saturday, at 2.00 pm. Meeting point will be Glenstal Abbey. Visiting: Cappercullen Mass Rock, Owney Abbey & Clonkeen Church. The tour will be led by Brother Cólmán Ó Clabaig, O.S.B.

COMMUNITY GAMES DRAUGHTS COMPETITIONS: Congratulations to Castleconnell/Ahane Community Games under-10 and under-12 draughts teams who participated in the county semi-finals and final in Ballingarry last weekend.The under-10 team lost out to Ballingarry in the final. The under-12 team finished in fourth place . Well done to all team members.

FIRST FRIDAY: As this Friday is the First Friday of the month, Holy Communion will be taken to the sick and the housebound.

CHIROPODY SERVICE FOR SENIOR CITIZENS: Chiropody Service for senior citizens will be available on this Friday, in the Health Centre, Castleconnell, at 4.30pm.

CASTLECONNELL BOAT CLUB: Cork Head of the River — This weekend saw Eoghan Whittle winning the Men’s junior 16 single scull down in cork. He was 16 seconds over the rest of his field. With his impressive performance at Irish trials 2 weeks earlier securing his position in the final assessment alongside teammate Eoghan O’Connor as well, things look bright for this young star.

DEATH OF TONY HILLIARD: Sympathy has been extended to the wife and family of Patrick Anthony (Tony} Hilliard, The Park Village, Castletroy and formerly of Larch Hill, Lisnagry, who passed away peacefully in St. John’s Hospital, on Saturday last. Tony was laid to rest in Rockvale Cemetery, Newport, after Requiem Mass on Monday last in Our Lady Help of Christians Church. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Moira; daughters, Ann, Pat, Brenda and Carol; brother, Jack; sons-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

CHURCH NOTICE: Patricia Mitchell will address congregations at the Sunday Masses in Ahane Church at 11.00am, and Castleconnell Church at 11.30am. on this Sunday. The theme: “Growing in faith and Love of God.”

Patricia worked in the area of disability with the Daughters of Charity all her life. She is also committed to Prayer for “intercession for priests” over the last 37years.

ANNUAL CURCH GATE COLLECTION: Castleconnell School Parents Association will hold their Annual Church Gate Collection this weekend.
