WAY OF THE CROSS: Stations of the Cross will be held in Feohanagh Church on Wednesday night at 7.05, followed by Mass at 7.30pm and Stations of the Cross on Friday night at 7.05 pm followed by Mass at 7.30pm.
FIRST FRIDAY: Friday next March 1 is the First Friday of the month. Mass will be in Castlemahon church at 9am and Mass will be in Feohanagh church at 11.30am. There will be confessions in both churches before Mass.
SEVEN STEPS: The next Seven Steps meeting will be held in the Sacristy Feohanagh on Monday March 4 at 7.30pm. All interested in taking part are very welcome to attend.
SYMPATHY: The death took place on Wednesday, February 20 in St. Ita’s Hospital Newcastle West of Anna Maria O’Connell, formerly of Mahoonagh, Castlemahon. Deepest sympathy to her relatives, neighbours and friends. May she rest in peace.
THE WITNESS: The Witness, a musical by Carol and Jimmy Ownes. The Witness is the story of Jesus, told and sung by Peter and the other men and women who knew the Master best. Featuring a great cast and coordinated by Fr Terry Loughran. The Witness, a musical, will be presented by the Diocese of Limerick in the Lime Tree Theatre, Mary Immaculate College, on Friday and Saturday, March 8 and 9. This production which is being staged just before Easter is an ideal opportunity for parishes, youth groups, as well as individuals to participate in a meaningful and relevant way in the Year of Faith and to enter into the spirit of the season of preparation for the events of Holy Week. WEST LIMERICK ALL STARS: West Limerick hurling and football All Stars Social. The West Limerick All Stars dinner dance will take place at the Devon Inn on this Saturday night, March 2 at 9pm. Presentations will be made to the following from Feohanagh-Castlemahon, All Star players Barry Noonan, Junior B hurling; Damien Brouder, West Minor hurling; Jamie Butler, All County minor hurling; Sean Flanagan, All County minor football. Congratulations to all four players on winning these honours and Limerick senior hurling manager John Allen will present the awards.
ARDAGH DRAMA “KEVINS BED” IN KNOCKADERRY: On Thursday night March 7, Ardagh Drama Group will present their two act comedy play Kevin’s Bed in the Resource Centre, Knockaderry at 7.30pm. The cast are Kay Davy, Catherine Woods, Mairead Carr, Maggie Enright, Gerard Liston, John O’Connell, Gerry Barrett and Rachel Liston. Proceeds are in aid of the new Community Hall in Castlemahon and with much thanks to the Ardagh Drama Group. A very enjoyable night has been organised by the Feohanagh-Castlemahon Community Hall Committee and your support for this fundraising night on March 7 will be appreciated.
ICA: The guest speaker at the Guild meeting on February 18 was Diarmuid Cahill, Pharmacist, Newcastle West. He spoke on common ailments and suitable drugs for each, he also stressed the availability of generic drugs that are cheaper than the brand name drugs, always ask at the pharmacy if a generic drug is available. Everybody likes a bargain in these times of recession.
The winner of the raffle was Helen McEmery. Competition results were 1st Margaret Coughlan; 2nd Ann Lynch and 3rd Ann Nash.
The Federation meeting will take place on February 27 in the Woodlands House Hotel at 8pm. Some members will represent the Guild and hopefully will have an entry for the competition.
Mary Canty is organising a walk in the Demesne, Newcastle West in a few weeks time, there will be details later. Rita Horgan is holding a poster competition Size A4, this is in conjunction with National Recruitments Day on March 2. Bring along your poster to the Federation meeting.
