THE LATE SHEILA O’RIORDAN: The death occurred on January 16 of Sheila O’Riordan Knocknagullane, Ballydaly Millstreet at Teach Altra Nursing Home Newmarket Co Cork. The late Sheila was just a few days short her 101st birthday. Over the years she spent much of her time with her daughter Joan O’Keeffe, Knocknamuck Mitchelstown. A very popular member of her local area. She also made some friends over the years in the Mitchelstown area. Her long life saw her emerge through two World Wars as well as the many changes that she witnessed over the past century. Her popularity was borne out by the large and represented attendance at the removal on Friday night from Tarrant’s Funeral Home Millstreet to Our Lady of Lourdes Church Ballydaly and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Saturday. Interment took place to St Mary’s Cemetery Millstreet. To her daughter Joan, sons Martin and Jerry, son in law, daughters in law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives neighbours and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.

THE LATE PATRICK O’DONOGHUE: The death occurred on January 12 of Patrick (Paddy) O’Donoghue 15 Ballinwillin Close Mitchelstown at Cork University Hospital. The late Paddy was in his 91st year. He was a very popular member of the local community. His popularity being borne out by the large and represented attendance at the arrival of the remains into Mitchelstown Parish Church on Tuesday evening last. There was also a very large attendance at the Requiem Mass and burial on Thursday. Interment took place to Brigown New Cemetery. To his daughters Geraldine, Patricia, Vera and Therese, grandchildren Cormac, Caoimhe, Colm, Maeve, Aoife, John, Rhona, Jack, Colm & Patrick brother Tom sister in law Joan, nephews, nieces relatives, neighbours and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.

THE LATE PATRICK (CHRISTY) HANLEY: The death occurred suddenly at his residence Tearmann Ui Chaoimh James St Mitchelstown of Patrick Hanley better known locally as Christy. The late Patrick was in his 77th year. A native of Golden Co Tipperary the late Patrick lived in Mitchesltown for many years. He was well known locally. There was a large attendance for his funeral as it arrived to the local Parish Church on Friday evening and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Saturday. Interment took place to Brigown New Cemetery. To his brothers Timmy, Jimmy, P. J Michael, Liam, sisters Mary-Ann (Barry) Kathleen, Lizzie (O’Shea) brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives neighbours and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.

THE LATE TERESA WALSH: The death occurred on January 16 peacefully at her residence Hill House Main St. Kildorrery of Teresa Walsh (Nee Gaffney) The late Teresa formerly of Churchtown was well known in the Kildorrery area where she resided with her family. A very large attendance attended the family home on Friday evening and also at the removal to St., Bartholomew’s Church that night. There was also a very large attendance at the Requiem Mass and burial on Saturday. Interment took place to the local cemetery. To her husband Patrick, son Tomas, daughter in law (Evelyn O’Flynn) grandchildren Sarah & Padraigh, brother in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives neighbours and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.

SPECIAL MASS: Newly ordained Fr Patrick O’Donoghue who spent his pastoral year in Mitchelstown a few hyeatrs ago will comer and celebrate Mass in teh Parish Church on this Thursday night January 23 at 8pm Fr Patrick will give his ‘First Blessing’ individually after Mass. He was ordained in November 2013 in the Cathedral in Cobh. While in Mitchesltown he loved his stay and is now delighted to be coming back to celebrate Mass.

COPE SENSORY GARDEN PROJECT: In order to advance the Mitchelstown Cope Sensory Garden Project, Tesco Mitchelstown have kindly offered to hold a ‘Bring and Buy Sale’ in store this Saturday January 25 to raise money for the project. The sale will take place between 10am and 4pm and donations can be made that morning if necessary or preferably beforehand by calling 087-2295839 or 025-24887 for collection.

FASHION SHOW: The CBS Primary School Parent’s Council will hold their 28th annual Fashion Show on Friday March 7 in the Firgrove Hotel 8pm. Models by Hilary Thompson and some ‘Familiar Faces’. Tickets €15 each availabel from School Office or any member of the Council.

CBS SECONDARY OPEN NIGHT: The CBS Secondary Mitchelstown Open Night will be held this Thursday January 23rd from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. The Principal’s address will be at 7pm

It is an ideal opportunity especially for 5th and 6th class boys and their parents/guardians to view the excellent facilities and meet with the staff.

BALLINDANGAN COMMUNITY COUNCIL: The Monday morning club – Ballindangan Hall wkill have the usual Monday morning meetings at 10.30am. This is an open invitation to all who would like top call in for a cup of tea and a chat.
