LOURDES 2014: Bishop O’Reilly will lead this year’s Pilgrimage from Thursday 26 June to Tuesday 1 July. Booking forms are available in the sacristy or Parish Office. The cost is €677 all-inclusive with discount of €10 when booked online. A special section is reserved for those who require assistance due to illness or some other condition. A special price of €565 for this section and a medical form needs to be completed, forms are available from Fr. Tom Ryan.
MONTHS MIND: The months mind mass for both Jim Scully, Dernish Lawn and Myrtle Lagan, Cronan Park is on Saturday evening at 6.30pm in SS John & Paul church.
CONFIRMATION: The Confirmation preparation masses will be on Sunday at 10am for St. Conaire’s School and at 11am mass for St. Senan’s, St. Tola’s, Gael Scoil & St. John’s.
WOLFE TONES: The Spar Texaco Town League will start on Saturday with the finals scheduled for Friday, February 21. First match on Saturday at 6.30pm will be Barry Loughnane’s team versus Bobby McPhillips. Followed at 7.30pm by the clash of the brothers, BOC versus Daithi O’Connell. Plenty of rivalry to make for some good games! Go along and support the players on Saturday evening. This will be a kick-start to preparations for the coming season.
SENIORS AGM: Shannon Senior Citizens Club will be holding their AGM at the club house, 9/11 Purcell Park on Wednesday January 29 at 3pm. All members are requested to attend. The annual dinner dance will be held in the Oakwood Arms Hotel on Wednesday February 5, dinner served at 6.30pm. Tickets are available from committee members.
CYCLE LANES: How safe is it for youngsters to cycle to school? Motorists park in the cycle lanes on the roads in Shannon, do they not realise that youngsters are cycling to school and have to move onto the road to avoid the parked cars and … seems quite dangerous!

JC SUPERSTAR: Shannon Musical Society is preparing to stage the Broadway hit Jesus Christ Superstar. It will run nightly at 8pm from February 16 to 22 in St Patrick’s Comprehensive School.
A rock opera with lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, JCS, first came to major theatres on Broadway in 1971.
This year’s show is directed by Sean Power from Galway and along with Karen Barrett, he has also taken charge of choreography. Musical Director is Carmen Griffin and she is assisted by Rosemary Walsh.
Eoin Sheedy plays the title role of Jesus Christ. Jared Nadin plays the part of Judas, with Lauren Dunne playing the part of Mary Magdalene. Stage crew, Front of House, Props as well as the musical team are all working hard.
