ADARE COMMUNITY TEXT ALERT: The objective of setting up a Community Text Alert system in Adare village is now underway. Representatives from the Text Alert group have been visiting houses in the village area to explain the system and to leave forms for householders to complete in order to become part of the scheme.It is expected that this canvass will be completed within the week. Any householder who has not yet signed up may do so by returning the completed form to the person named on it. A general meeting of householders in the village area will be held in the Village Hall on Tuesday, January 28, at which an up-date will be given on the progress of setting up the scheme. All householders are welcome. Completed forms for joining the scheme may also be handed in at this meeting.

ADARE 10K: The 20th annual 10k road race, fun run and non competitive walk takes place on Sunday 23 February at 1pm. Online Entries at www.precisiontiming.net . For more information contact 0874149782.

OUR LADY’S ABBEY ENROLMENT: Our Lady’ Abbey (www.ourladysabbey.com) is now enrolling for September 2014. Anyone wishing to enrol their child should contact the school at 061 396753 or at ourladysabbeyadare@eircom.net. The school will hold an Open Night on Monday, February 3 from 7pm for anyone wishing to see the school or meet the teachers. All are welcome.

SCOIL NAOMH IOSAF ENROLMENT: Scoil Naomh Iosaf, Adare Boys National School will hold an enrolment week at the school from Monday 10th to Friday 14th February from 2.15 to 3pm each day. Parents who are interested in enrolling their son in September 2014 are welcome.

ADARE SHELTERED HOUSING AGM: The AGM of Adare Sheltered Housing Ltd. will take place in the Adare Day Care Centre, on Thursday, January 23 at 7.30 pm. All are welcome.

PARISH RADIOS: For those parishioners who are unable to come to mass and would like to listen to mass from the parish church in their homes, we now have a new stock of Radios here in the Parish Office. Many people findthe Parish Radio helpful in praying the Rosary and the Mass at the start of the day. If you are interested or know somebody who might find it helpful, please contact Rita on 396172.

ADARE COMMUNITY OFFICE: The Adare Community Office is now up and running and currently updating its data base of clubs and services in the village. Opening hours at present are 10am to 4pm Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Fun Pub Quiz Night – Scoil Naomh Iosaf: Scoil Naomh Iosaf boys national school will be holding their annual Fun Pub Quiz in Pat Collins Bar on Friday 7th February 2014 at 8.30pm. All funds raised on the night go directly towards the funding of the boys annual school musical which will take place in the Village Hall in April. Every year a fun, sociable night is guaranteed and the event is always very well supported by the whole community. So, its time to get your teams together and come along for a very enjoyable night.

ADARE MARKET: Adare County Market is held every Saturday from 10am to 2pm in front of the Village Hall. There are a wide variety of artisan, homemade goods for sale which including Fresh Fruit and Vegetables, Home Baking, Handknits, Handmade Greeting Cards and Jewellery, Free Range Eggs, Homemade Jams (Seasonal), Handmade Crafts including an Alterations Service.
